Default Shifter shaft seal in 66 TH400

Hey all,

I thought Id throw this out and see if anyone can help..

Try to get the drivetrain back in on my 66 Ventura.. but decided
to change out all the seals on my TH400 long tail ( but not
rebuilding it yet) ... before putting it back in..

So I go get what I think are the correct seals but they wont go on
my tranny.. looks like an O ring and not the metal collared U seal
would be the only thing that would fit..

Anyone seen this before ?

1st pic is what I expected to see... 2nd pic is the shifter shaft on
my tranny.. now MAYBE there is a seal on mine that is so flush
to the side that I cant see the gap.. does anyone know the
correct new seal for this application ?

Any ideas/ experience with this ?
thanks for any input..

John
