Hey all, just wanted to make all you Q-jet people aware of something I tried. I purchased a #1982 Edelbrock Q-jet "marine" accelerator pump for my 71 HO Q-jet on my 76 T/A. It is a reduced length pump for quicker shot that runs about $12 for any parts store. It comes with a new pump and return spring. I installed the new pump and spring (which was stiff) and got a severely delayed shot if one at all. I reinstalled the stock pump and spring and all returned to normal. I then installed the stock return spring with the new pump and found that's the hot combo. Throttle response pick up tremendously. I bought one for the 71 HO Q-jet on my dad's 72 T/A with the same results. I don't know if any of you have tried this and found it helped any but I hope maybe this may help someone else. Rocky

In comparing the length they are more correct for a 75 and up as they are shorter than the earlier Q jet pumps. I bought one to to have an extra for my earlier Q jet . It is close to the one for my 78 Q jet.
