IA II cast iron block update
Just want everyone to know that Cast Iron and Aluminum Blocks are in the machining process.
If you are looking for a block with special order items, such as a big cam tunnel, the time to order would be now. We apologize for the long delay. The new, blocks with our latest improvements in casting and machining, will be ready for shipping beginning 2/15. We have moved the CNC machining to a new building, within the same company, with new machines and dedicated operators. All of the CNC manufacturing is done in a cell with palletized robots loading and unloading the blocks. We now supply the blocks with the main and cam tunnels line honed to save additional machine cost. The improvements include adding more cast Iron to the main webs. We now have to machine both sides of each web to match the caps. This removes any stress risers in this area to improve strength. The main webs are now a full 1". We have also down sized the oil feed hole to the cam bearings to 1/8 of an inch to keep more oil on the main bearings. We thank everyone for their patience and look forward to keeping the Pontiac community supplied with the best possible products.

I have the new casting going in the mill on Friday.
Then it will go for sonic checking and porting. Don't be surprised if we have numbers in the 520ish CFM range. These prototypes have been near 10k rpm on someone's car already.

There is no reason to have a larger oil feed hole is the main reason to down size this hole.
And anytime you reduce the cross section you gain yield strength. Machining the sides of the Mains is like polishing a crankshaft to reduce the surface imperfections. It makes it stronger. We always try make a better product.

How many pounds of iron added with the FAT main webs? They are impressive looking...

Jack our mains were already at .930 thick. The main caps are 1.00 thick. So we added iron to be able to machine them to match the caps.
This added 2 to 3 lbs. If that.
