Default Do you have to use a flare fitting on Qjet fuel inlet?

I bought a 68 GTO and a previous owner installed a Holley Street Avenger with adapter on the original stock intake. Yeah, I know.

I have a 68 QJet I'm about to replace it with but the cut fuel line is really stuck on the fuel pump. I was going to use a regular vacuum style fitting on the Qjet inlet just to get it over to a shop where they can remove the old line and I can have them replace with a new steel fuel line. Can I use a new brass vacuum fitting I have that screws in easily into the Qjet but is not a flared fitting?

I'm a Holley fan, so I would have picked up a used Performer intake and dropped the Holley on it. If you found out later that you didn't care for the Holley (doubtful) you could always go back to a Qjet. I don't know your application so will assume near-stock. If original appearance is you goal, then Qjet with stock intake of course.

The fitting you propose will leak if it doesn't have the flare to seal it. Just use the original fitting and cut-off line at either end with a rubber line between for a short drive to the repair shop. Double up the hose clamps for insurance for the short run.

Factory fitting on qjet uses a double flare fitting, same as you would use on a brake line. You could just get a short chunk of brake line, cut it, and clamp a 3/8 rubber fuel line to the open end

They make and sell a fitting from double flare to hose. Any hydraulic hose shop and most real auto parts stores should have it in their store inventory.
On the stuck fuel pump end, use a line wrench, and try the line in both directions with a penetrant lubricant.

You can also grab one of these power steering return line fittings at your NAPA Store for $7.99 and a length of 3/8" fuel line until you get the new line installed. I used this as a temporary connection on the QJet while testing against my current QuickFuel Slayer carb. I had made a custom hardline in the Holley config and just wanted a quick way to compare back to back using a 3/8' hose and two clamps.
