You were in my news feed today... I'm sure you've seen this but it's pretty cool for everyone to see IMO...

Oh wow.

Yes - that was written some time ago by site member Eric White (RIP).

I see at the bottom it says it was written in 2011.

Thanks for the link. That is a nice article.

Nice find! I never saw the original, and I only recently found out Eric has passed away. We were going to get together about my '67 GP convertible one of these years.

Keith, seeing your picture in there I'm trying to figure out if I ever ran into you at the DPG.

Greg thanks for posting that.
Keith I never knew that your Dad campaigned a Sprint.
Would love to hear how he got it into the 12s

When Keith pulled into my cars and coffee, the GP had a heavenly light about it. All his cars are amazing

I don't recall much beyond that, but I would guess "the usual suspects"

Tuned carbs
recurved distributors
a little more compression, perhaps
rocker arms for more lift
shimmed valve springs
dual exhaust/header(s)*
steep rear axle ratio

Those were his usual go to's.

K

*on our '69 GMC with a straight six (also with a homemade tripower) he added a second outlet to the exhaust manifold to create dual exhaust.

I did the same on my '80 Chevy stepside, except it already had a dual outlet. The '79 exhaust system went down the left side and the '80 down the right, for an easy dual exhaust set up.

I recognize the offices... back side of Bldg 33?

This one is a photo of a page from the DPG yearbook. Maybe 1998?

We were in one of the trailers, over by the (then new) outside chassis roll dynamometer. I worked for Dan Mahannah. I'm drawing a blank on what building we were in.

I moved back to Michigan in 1994.
