Sorry- I usually hate the “what’s it worth” posts but this one throws me a bit.

‘69 GTO according to VIN, registration, dash, and most things except ‘68 doors w/ vent windows, rear bumper/tail lights, deck lid (?), and rear portions of the quarters at a minimum.

Running Pontiac 350 (unknown details block/heads) with headers, TH400, 12 bolt rear end (unknown details), drums all around, rear coil-over shocks, traction/ladder bars, driveshaft loop, new wheels/tires (zero miles), B&M shifter (?), Endura with hidden H/L (actuators and all vacuum components intact), some RA tidbits like in car actuator/brackets and possibly some attached under hood parts. Floors/trunk solid with possibly a front driver floor replaced. Paint at 5’ could pass for brush/finger paint but would all be stripped off when I’d weld in the rear quarter patch panels to get the ‘69 marker lights back and correct stamping where the bumper meets the quarter anyways. Includes a pallet of transmissions (3-4 with one externally looking like a fresh rebuild), several intakes (Inc. Offy Dual Quad), random carbs…

Ran it through PHS and came back with:

So, big question is… if your neighbor or buddy who was given this, rolled it out of their garage and said “I don’t want this, what do you want to give me for it?”, what would that number be? Additionally, what would the number be where you couldn’t just walk away without it, even if it’s the last thing you needed right now? Lol

I have no interest in another project right now, but if that was local I might be tempted around $5k or so - any more and I'd probably pass and let someone else deal with that mess. Looks like it has decent bones and a few decent parts, but it's still a plain jane espresso brown on gold NOM car, all of which put a low ceiling on value if restored. Could be a neat car to thrash/drive/race without too many worries if the price was right, though.

I'd say it ALL depends on the level of rust/filler on the car.

I'd price it as a 69 GTO project car with no engine, since basically the engine has no value unless it's used as a daily driver.

That said, if the rust is minimal, I've seen 69 project cars that complete (and by "complete" I mean no engine, no doors etc) sell for $10K. Again ... must have little to no rust/filler.

At 65 years old ... if I really wanted it, yeah, I'd pay $10K, if I was 50 years old I wouldn't think twice before buying it.

If it's the really "the last thing you need right now" ... my life advice would be to pass it up. Are all your other projects complete? Are all the things important to you in life sorted out? Will it make you feel better or worse seeing it sit outside neglected for a few years? Don't let that GTO hoarding animal get hold of you

If you want to buy it for $5K and flip it ... do it in a heartbeat. I bet you could get $8-10K for it pretty easy if it starts and runs.

Or is it a 68 something with a 69 vin and papers and some 69 parts? I'd think that car is best suited as a future drag race car.. I would pass on it.

It seems far easier to believe that someone put some 69 stuff on a 68 car.
Sure makes it difficult want to pay much for it. If the vin was for a 68 something I’d pay more than as it is now.

With the numbers telling me it’s a ‘69, I would have to dig deeper into the construction of the car. My first thought was a ‘69 that has been clipped with a ‘68 back half. Mixing different years with some cars was not so uncommon in the 70s and 80s. If a look at the underside of the floor pans doesn’t confirm a cut, I pull the sill plates and lift the carpet. Also look under the pacage tray area for a different paint color. Just my thoughts.

The dash, steering wheel/column and seats are 69. I'm guessing it's a 69 with 68 doors. Would like to see the tail lights/rear body panel.

The interior is all 69 (other than the door panels on the 68 doors) Would be a lot of work to swap over the dash, steering column, etc. Seats and belt retractors are also 69 models and look unmolested.

It seems much more likely that it's a '69 with '68 doors, repop quarters and tail panel or back halved as Steve suggested. If I was looking at it that would be the first thing I'd do...find the seams.
If I recall correctly, the repop quarters all have the '68 marker light holes. At least that was the case some time ago.

OK, but rear quarter panels are 68 and the complete interior is the wrong color for the VIN.(maybe it’s been painted?)

A '68 interior could easily be installed in a '69, or vice versa. It's the '69 dash structure that would be a bear to install in a '69.

W/o putting this car's body through an extensive examination, one's not going to know what was exactly was done to the body! Was the body front clipped? Back clipped ? OR is it actually a '69 body that just had rust & collision repair in the rear by having an available used '68 tail panel piece welded into the rear body then (most likely) repop hip 1/4's installed. The latter type of "repair" should be fairly easy to spot.

Have had a TON of Pontiac A & F-body partscars & projects over the last 40 years. In my region of the country, nothing special drivetrain wise, ugly color combo base horse Auto/AC '68's Pontiac GTO projects are not that hard to find. '69's of similar build have typically been somewhat harder to find in same condition.. That noted, when I assess value of a project or partscar, I always take into account the amount of expenditure, quality sheetmetal wise, its going to take to return a modified body through the metal work phase. That's the some of the input info I use to decide if dealing with a viable project, or partscar.

Actually, from the one interior pic it looks like a '69. Headrests and I don't see a side button on the seat back. Headrests were of course available in '68 but not typical.
