I just got my new company car, the old diesel had run through its contract and the new one is an EV. A Skoda Enyak, probably not available in the US. Its a small SUV.

Anyyway, aside from feeling I'm driving a four wheel tablet / smartphone, as far as the controls., it drives really nice. I'm still discovering how longer trips are going to work out with the recharging but so far I do like it. Electric is nice to drrive, yeap its boring but for a daily driver thats ok, my previous diesel was a bore as well.

Correct, Skoda doesn't sell in the US. Europe has a lot more to choose from than what we've seen here so far. I looked up the Enyaq online, it's not a bad looking car as far as EVs go and it has pretty good range (advertised as 550km or 340 miles.)

Is that all lights above the license plate? (high beams or fog lights?)

Not bad looking.

When in Barca this Spring we rented a Skoda Kamiq; neat little 3 cyl turbo - quite handy!

It's the grille or whatever goes for a grille on an EV.
Here's a better image showing the headlights, this one is mine.

I have the larger battery size on mine and when fully charged it had a range of 300 miles this morning. After a 137 mile trip trying to drive at 85 mph it had 98 miles of range left.
It was around 57 F degrees today.

That is my first experience with it, I've had it for 4 days now. In the winter I'm sure its at least 20% less. Not too big of an issue for me as the infrastructure for recharging is pretty good in my country and about 99% of my round trips is less than 75 miles.

Default EV Damage repairs?

Maybe this has been discussed here before, sorry if I've missed it.

So I had a customer in my shop last Friday. Turned out he was a founder of a very large chain of panel shop repairs, he is now retired but still has an active interest in the company.

Told me that at present, any EV that is presented to them for a repair quotation, unless the damage is superficial, ie, fender, hood, doors, trunk lid etc, they currently will not accept the car into the shop. ANY form of compromised damage to the frame or the electrics, they just don't want to know in fear of future liability issues.

He did concede that in the future with the number of EV's mounting up on the road its inevitable that policy will have to change but until they have the legal disclaimers watertight, NO EV's accepted for heavy repairs.

I found that interesting.

Ian

Not Proven, but for the moment the ship fire does not appear to have been caused by an EV.
So far
No burned EV's have been found on board.

https://www.eenewseurope.com/en/ev-n...e-says-report/

Forest fire smoke has covered our area.
Today it is even thicker and warnings for outside activities posted.
Used the bio defense charcoal Hepa filter in the Tesla yesterday Started the trip on my Kawasaki z 900 retro and got so much eye irritation I had to turn around and drove the model Y. It even worked to filter out the F 250 that decided he needed to roll as much coal as he could after pulling next to me while holding the brake down and spooling his over fueled black smoke billowing Powerstroke.
I can say the Hepa works well couldn't smell the unburned diesel at all.
Had I been driving my 3500 4x4 Cummins powered Ram I doubt he would have done what he did.

The ship had various sealed deck levels and compartments.
YouTube clip was from before the autopsy began.

Since it burned hot for 4-5 days it seemed very likely that EV's were involved.
If they really confirm that all 498 EV's were undamaged ,,,, it will be incredible.
And a tidal wave of backlash far and wide

Is it full time filtering ? or driver controlled filtering ?

About 3 weeks ago we had bad smog here in central NC from the Canadian fires.
Lasted a couple or few days. I can still smell smoke on many days currently.
Wouldn't want to be up around the source.

Complete BS that no Ev's were involved.
A fairy tale.
Realize that at this point Ev's are a cult like following.
As most "can't handle the truth nowadays."
