Just a note on LU converters and OD transmissions.

I prefer non-LU for my own cars as they are just plug & play. My vehicles work just fine with them and they all enjoy the additional torque multiplication in OD at highway speeds when you climb a grade or hill. I've ran the same vehicle with both types and no fuel economy improvement LU over non-LU. I will say however than my non-LU converter was very well coupled in the "normal" driving range, not some loose/sloppy piece that required over 2000 rpms just the back the car out of the driveway! So for sure if you are going non-LU you need a very well made efficient converter.

Even with that said IF you buy a well made LU converter with a billet cover and multiple disc LU arrangement they can be set-up to LU on the 1-2 upsift and cease all torque multiplication for WOT runs. In that scenario you can have your cake and eat it to by using a converter that will flash well and launch the car very effectively at the track with good traction, then lock SOLID on the 1-2 upshift to transfer ALL the power to the pavement for the rest of the run.

With the light duty single disc units you MUST set it up to unlock coasting, or anytime you go to heavy or full throttle or you will "smoke" the clutch in it.....
