The local car that's with the OE owner has a flat hood and a rear spoiler. Don't recall if it's got the B/guards or not. It spent most of it's life on a drag strip and is a low mile car.

Thumbs up

Good find! Take plenty of pics.

Do as little as possible to it, get it running and stopping, then sell it for a monster profit which you should then immediately pour into your PMD products!

Agreed. Then you can buy a real car.

Here's an interesting article on what to look for to verify a true Z/28.

I know where an original DZ Cross Ram dual quad intake with original carburetors is sitting, it is currently installed on a 355 in a 63 Chevy II and this car has been sititng since about 1979/80, indoors. The intake and carburetors looks like new to this day and the car itself would stand very tall at any local show, cheater slicks and all. It is/was a 70's street car. 4:10, power glide, B&M shifter, 355 CID, white exterior w/ red interior and of course the DZ cross ram.

Congrats on a GREAT barn find! They are still out there. I agree with washing it and seeing how original it is. The more original, the more $$$$ value. The Camaro folks are really into original cars because of the lack of documentation that we enjoy with PHS.

Here are a couple good Forums to post on for Camaros. They go nuts over barn finds just like us Pontiac folks. The cowl induction hood, (aka super scoop hood) was introduced partway through 1969 model year as option code ZL-2. Most Z/28s came with the factory standard flat hood although it is pretty rare item to see nowadays. The only 1969 Camaros that came standard with the cowl hood were the 9560 and 9561 COPO 427 Camaros. Jim

If this Camaro you know about really is/was Mario's car, do you realize what that implies? They used to present the winner of each Indy 500 with the actual pace car for the race.

I know, that is why he won't let it go. he said it will rot before he sells it, and that is exactly what it is doing. the last time i looked at it was about 10-15 years ago, and he still has it because my friends father is friends with him.

Great find. Back in 1986 when I was a senior in high school, a local guy had a 69 Z/28. It was a finished car with the DZ 302, a 4 speed, and a 12 bolt rear with 4:11's. He wanted to trade me even up for my 67 GTO and I passed. To this day I still can't tell if that was the right move or not.

Don't listen to the Pontiac only guys. Believe it or not ALL the manufacturers in the 60's made nice cars. And shockingly some of them were faster and nicer than Pontiacs. 69 Camaros are beautiful cars. A true 69 Z/28 is an outstanding piece of Musclecar history and you should enjoy the car the way you want to.

Unless you want to sell it to a fellow Pennsylvanian......nudge nudge wink wink...

I've been talking about doing that for years now. If I could find one that wasn't a $10k rust ball.

How far is that car from Nazareth? Very Interesting. At least the geography is right.

it is about 30 - 45 minutes from nazareth.

use to see mario a lot in the allentown, bethlehem, easton area driving his lamborgini around. he also had andretti car washes through out the area.

now back to original topic.

Yeah... half with cowl hoods jives with what I remember seeing on the road "back in the day" -- if anything I'd say I saw more flat hood cars. Over the years, most of them seem to have sprouted cowl hoods, though.

Only fresh barn finds have flat hoods anymore.

Nice find, BTW.

I will try to post some more pics of int., trunk, underhood later in the weekend. I am leaving early in the a.m. to go for a last snowmobile trip of the year but will post more info about the car when I get back. It is a real x-77 code Z/28 with 66,000 original miles. Sadly some original items are missing (possibly stolen over time) like ralley wheels, steering wheel, carb, intake, dist. etc.
I will post more details when I get home.

btw Thanks for all the congrats on finding the car but I will let everyone know I certainly did not steal it from this guy . We both were satisfied with the deal we made.
