We went and looked at that car and wanted to buy it when i was still a kid. It was only like 30 minutes away from the house. Glad to see its still around instead of being destroyed

Default Keeping it at the top...

Thought I would add a few old Roundy Round Ponchos from my files.
Enjoy!

Here's some pics of the Champion Automotive sponsored 1st gen Firebird Funny car. built by Duane Muelling, with help from Tom Nell, this car featured a sliding engine cradle that would let you move the motor/tranny to 3 different locations in the chassis, had 3 different length driveshafts for the swap! Hilborn injected pontiac power, it was a "freshly"built car at the article writing, but ran 162 MPH it's first run down the track! (No ET listed)

Although not mainstream, there were many cars built like this, even into the mid-late 70's. The reason for moving the engine around was to "tune the chassis" for whatever track conditions you were dealing with.

If you ran them today in SS/P they would weigh about 4570lbs minimum. In SS/O 4310lbs. That engine was factored to 250HP. Originally it was 235HP. I dont see any problem wit6h that engine making well over 500HP in SS trim. Pretty good combo.
