I might be way off... but...I believe Ernie's goal is to go in both directions (I have same goals). There's been a lot of street driven racers, but he is truly trying to keep everything civil, without losing drive-ability.
So much technology and knowledge has been available in the last 20 years has helped a bunch.

Think about all the knowledge that's on just this site?

A 10 second true street car, is a real hoot!!!

I think he said his best time was with a 3.08 gear and Conti converter? I may be wrong.

I'm not sure for end goal..keep learning and tuning. Im pretty content with it the way it is but always looking for a tenth.

My 60 ft were good again considering the heat..I think my quickest was a 1.51,,,great day hot as hell and humid..I have a new Progressive ignition distributor coming any day so I can fine tune. Looking forward to easy adjustments at the track and on the street...Also cut a .0018 light on my last pass of the day..we were both pretty pleased knowing once we get into better weather we are looking at 10.6's..I drove down with the Holley and back home with my Prosystems.. Both carbs worked great on the drive and at the track and almost run identical times
Maybe Andy will update us with his current combo!!!

Jeff your earlier post #122 very much sums up what’s achievable, but its not everyone’s path.. To have a turn key drivable 10 sec car was never the goal but….stuff happens. TA man keeps me on my toes so the endeavour happened. Pushing the Pontiac name has become at least to me kinda important.
Another note , its a street car , runs cool in traffic on-hot muggy days and has acceptable street manners. I do go to various cruise nights and car shows and think nothing of driving it..
It takes a ton of research to pick the right selection of parts to make the whole package enjoyable.

I can add about running Pontiacs at the track, most times if not all times we are the fastest real N/A cars at the dragstrip. Makes us feel pretty good when people come over looking for poweradders under the hood and just realize they are all engine.
That Friday was hot and humid..Andy and I would literally come back after a run soaked..yet the cars didn't skip a beat...great day!

Thereis a lot of fast street cars in my area.nothing to see lots of 10 or even 9 second street cars on a test and tune night. That being said, MOST have a power adder of some sort. Turbo, superchargers and even NOS cars. I typically drive my car to the track and usually line up with the “slick” cars. I’m typically a slower car in the “slick” lanes but I look around and I’m also the only one that drove it to the track! When people see me pulling out to hit the street I often get crazy looks!

I installed my new Progression distributor today..so it will be the first time in years with no MSD and no external coil for now.

Thanks Andy!!!
I wasn't sure I was up to speed on your combi, was pretty sure you were running the Quadrajet, anymore.
Now if you and Ernie can get Chris up to speed, that would be cool!!!
Thanks
Jeff

Update on the distributor, easy install and easy to set and adjust the tune. I doubt I will find any power with it but if I was off a degree or two for total power it's so easy to adjust to find.
For an overall tune some minor adjustments have already made the car smoother and more responsive, the ability to tune the vacuum advance while driving is great. I've also made a cold start tune that is basically just more timing at idle to help the engine idle.
The track testing will be fun, I plan on running 28 30 and 32 for totals and then narrow down exactly what the engine wants at full throttle.

Update, the new distributor is working out well. The quick adjustments on the spot are great for the track and street. I'm still fine tuning for the street with it but the car has never ran smoother.
As far as the dragstrip it is easier, lock out the timing and hold on. The car just loves the locked out timing. I ran it at 28 degrees and 30 degrees for all passes with the 30 degrees showing the best et and mph. ( bit of tuner error I thought I was at 30 and 32 degrees at the track but distributor was off 2 degrees for sync)
Every pass I went quicker then my previous 60 foot times into the 1.4's Every run I had the Prosystems carb on with no adjustments made.
But I still have not out run my 308 times...even with the quicker 60 foot times.
So I am currently trying to tune the combination for more upper rpm power.
I also did a compression test all cylinders show 195 plus or minus 2 so the engine is healthy.

Here are the three better slips, I hit the rev limiter on the other 2 but the slowest 60 foot was a 1.5028.

Thanks for the update!
Any chance you have the best slip with 3.08 gears handy that you can post, just to compare to?
