I have no doubt you can do what you say, and I have no doubt it would make power, all Im saying is how affordable will it be and how practical on a pontiac block. Then there is the business side, how many will sell? Cant even get pontiac people to give up their valve covers.
the same price as they would be if you designed them wrong....+ 1 set of castings.

I think that as a group, Pontiac people are not ready for the next step as bad as I would like to see that happen. We do have a few willing to step up to the plate and do what it takes, and they are the ones laying down the awesome numbers. Unfortunately though they are not the majority. So from a business point of view. Spending the time and money to produce a head that will perform at the level John and Travis would like to see, just does not make sense right now. Maybe if enough Pontiac guy's keep stomping the Chevy and Ford boy's a$$e$. We can start drawing back the traitors who jumped ship and put Chevy engines in their Pontiac's. Like some have said here, there just is not enough demand for a race style head right now. I'm not saying that some will not purchase them, but not enough to be profitable from a business sense. If you were filthy rich and can just blow $100,000 plus for fun. I say go for it, but I know I cannot do that or do I know anyone willing to do that. John you are very talented and you have shown us that with what you have done with the Pro port. I commend you on that. That was no easy task considering what you had to start with. Myself, you, and a few others would really like see a clean slate race head for our beloved Pontiac's, but until we get more really die hard traditional Pontiac hard core racers. I just cannot see a demand for it. So until that happens, we just got keep making what we have available work.

Just throwing it out there for the ones who think the numbers aren't there for a casting. The gentleman who made our second set of billet heads for the Boss Bird has now made billet heads for a BBC and a Big Chrysler engine with water jackets. I haven't seen them but I believe the ports and water passages are all carved out and then a plate is welded or bolted to the bottom to form the deck surface. Not a cheap or simple operation but much lower cost than developing a casting for a half dozen heads. This would give the NA guys some options and others that need cooling in the head.

Can the Boss Bird heads be bought? I asked Eric a couple years back when they were new and he said he wanted to wait until he knew they worked before selling any... they work!! So are they for sale yet?

We're not actively marketing them...but yes, something could be worked out, now that we've had them running and down the track a few times.

Default Symmetrical Layout...

With a different bore spacing and a cam lobe placement change, this could work.......

There has been a lot of talk about bore space in this head topic. I don't see the relevance?

Question Bore Spacing...

John,
What I meant was since a Pontiac's Bore Spacing is different than an LS Engine, the cylinder head that I illustrated would require a different bore spacing to work on a pontiac block.

The port layout and valve arrangement would basically remain the same.

Carry On.....
Have a great one,
Larry S.
