I have not got my 63 tempest to the track yet so I will have to put up a car my friends and I raced in New Zealand back in the late nineties. It was a FE rail with a very low dollar 455. I got given the engine because it was sitting outside in the weather and was very rusty in the bores and had the side broken off a piston. My friend Gary welded the side back on the piston and we reringed it gave it some new bearings. We got given an isky mega cam and lifters 221/.050 .465" lift 108 degrees mild but free. I built a sump with a kick out scrapper and windage tray .The heads were 6x off a late 400 witch I ported rather badly. We couldn’t afford Pontiac springs so we put the heads on a mill and cut them for swap meet chev small block springs and retainers. We wheeled and dealed a torker 11 manifold and a used 750 dp holley. We adapted a big block chev electric water pump to the front of the Pontiac and that was our race engine. We then built some tri y headers with IR cones on the exhaust ports. It owed us $1200NZ. It was placed in the rail owned and built by Jeff and Gary with a 3000 stall glide and 3.00 diff gears. The rail was on the track racing for under $6000. It would go 9.5 all day long and we all drove it. Best run was 9.3 at 145 mph. I think it would have gone faster with a stock 4bl manifold as it was so mild.

Hey Everybody,
After fixing the driveshaft, last year we ran a 6.67 at 100.9 mile-per-hour and made it to the semifinals with winning six rounds. This year we had issues with the track as well as the transmission brake and the line lock. However we did our best ET of 6.58 at 101.8! Thanks, Craig |

Gotta post new numbers
Quote:
After running the car last night and more tuning, we've gotten some more out of the CV-1 heads. Best to date now is... 9.18 @ 148 Still no power adders like NOS and still on gas Correction on the weight too because of the aluminum heads. It's 2800 lbs with the old man driving. My son ran the 9.25 and he's about 50 lbs lighter. Time to put the wheelie bars back on!
