Firefox browser has an add on for the photobucket issues. works well. I started using Bobs method of Parkerizing and its great and works so well, and fast. Blows the doors off the old Eastwood system I was using.

iirc, Bob was using material from Scott at Palmetto. I called him about a year or so ago & he was getting out of the business. But I see his website is still up. I think thats were I stopped as I wasn't sure where to get the chemicals. I recall something about the Palmetto being a darker black than the others. Or something along that line.
http://www.palmettoenterprises.net/P...-Welcome-.html I had so many other things to do I just put it off until now. Just need to make a laundry list of things to order. I think Bob had some videos too? I forget......

1006 posts on this thread. Gotta be nearing a record of some sort.....
Its funny though, the thread almost needs an index. I recall the entire section of the parkerizing trial & errors, but for the life of me I can't find what page its on....

That's it. Sorry I missed your call Carl. I had a 3:30 wake up call and have been traveling and in meetings all day.
If you dig around the internet you can order direct a little cheaper. Get a couple bottles of the black and a couple of the gray. Also track down some smaller high stainless sauce pans. Something 10" diameter and 4" inches deep or so. I have found that it's more efficient using a small pan because it uses less solution and less distilled water. I've also started using a small stainless fry basket something like this link...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Size-....c100508.m3226 You'll still need a bigger pan and setup for larger pieces, but I've found it is much easier and efficient most of the time for fasteners to do a small quantity. With the small pan and basket, not only do you use less solution, but you can also get the temperature up much quicker, which makes the process faster. I'll give you a call back when things clear up a little. |

So are all of these the same seller, or the same chemical mfg? Not trying to find the cheapest price, just want to get the best stuff. if I can get both, I am not apposed to that idea either....
But, I want to order something soon & need a little help on where to get it seeing there seems to be some talk about some of these concentrates getting the parts blacker than others. or if there is a better place to get the right stuff, please post a link or drop me a pm. http://www.calvan.com/html/black_single_bottles.html http://parkerizingkits.com/html/blac...le_bottle.html https://www.ebay.com/i/222714728079?rt=nc

What's a good method of heating up the solution in the container? Stovetop?

I microwave it. I have noticed it can settle in the bottle it comes in, so I make sure I see it and shake it occasionally

Bentwheelbob....since your Y88 is a low mileage survivor, does it still have the original windshield?
Reason I ask is that somebody on a Facebook page thinks that a Y88 had a windshield with the shading at the top being gold tinted. I believe all tinted windshields had bluish shaded area at the top of the windshield, and that the Y88 didn't have it's own gold shaded windshield. I know the t-tops are gold on the Y88, but I find it hard to believe the windshield had gold shade. So, if you still have the original factory windshield, which way was it please? And have you ever heard of a gold tinted windshield? Thanks!

One of my Y88's has the original Glass, it's a blue band that fades out at the bottom just like the other originals you see. You can pretty much bet the bank it was either a sun beat & faded original, or something else with an added tint. But they were never gold tinted.

Thanks for the reply!
That's what I told the guy...that the only ones that I've seen that looked a kind of "gold-ish" were 40 year old originals that sat out in the weather most of their lives and faded and discolored. I have a 79 that's like that. He was wondering where he can find a gold shaded one, so now I can tell him that there's no such thing. Thanks again!

I worked at a Pontiac Dealer and set these cars up for sale when New . While I was impressed with the Gold T tops at my young and impressionable age, the Windshield was Not Gold anywhere. The tint was plastic sandwiched between 2 pieces of glass making it Safety Glass. We replaced a Few Before they were sold due to a chain drop on the car carrier.

Well, the Gold Car is back in the house for the season. I finally swapped the NSX to the upper garage and brought the Y88 home for the season. It was great driving it tonight, and it is pretty cool to have three Fbody’s keeping me company. The 461 stroker fired right up after about 30 seconds despite sitting for 6 months, and it spun the tires in the first three gears. Life is good.
