Here's my 64 Bonneville Vista sedan I just picked up this weekend. Needed a family friendly cruiser and this one suited the bill.....389 4 barrel with Super Hydramatic.....what a fun car!

Most Excellent! I'm sure I'll have some questions! I'm typically a Mopar guy, and this is my first venture into the General Motors pond...

I'd agree! My grandfather was a Pontiac man as he was a PMD exec from the 40s-60s, so needless to say my mother was quite happy with the purchase (picked it up the day after what would have been his 115th birthday...wild).

Welcome, Matt, from another Matt.

In case you're new o online forums, for best results, be sure to post your questions in new threads vs posting in this thread.

Great car, BTW! The '64 is a best-of-breed and in general parts seem to be less expensive than for the '61 - '63s.

Just put new wheels and tires on so I could roll it into the garage to pull the engine.

Cragers are era-specific wheels, and they look pretty damn right on a deuce.

Good lookin' GP, snake charmer!!

So, for grins I Googled 66 Bonneville wagon. This image came up. It is a factory ad or maybe out of the Safari magazine they put out. Check it out. It has Star Chief accents on it.

That's a Laurentian Safari. While Pontiac US dropped the name Safari in 1966 the Canadians kept it for
the full size station wagons. At least the brochure says so. I haven't yet seen a Safari badge on a 66 wagon

They had four different Safaris in Canada. Two versions of Laurentian, Strato-Chief and Parisienne. I wonder how many that were built?

Aha! Very cool. There are no '66 Safaris in US models. I have no idea why they dropped it for that year only. Must be b/c it is the coolest one ever made, and they could just not put it in the same class as all the rest!

We had to swallow a frog and get into an attic with a lot of nasty insulation etc. this morning, so we rewarded ourselves with a trip on the Parkway for some lunch. Not too many people out, so we could take advantage of the pristine Federal pavement. Then we headed to the shop to pick up our control arms with bushings pounded in.

Like a rock: Oh, wrong brand.
