Default Lemans

You are doing a real nice job on that car!! It's good that you are doing everything yourself, so much more rewarding. Can't wait to see it done.

Went outside to take a fresh look at it. But wasn't out there long as it's -6 outside right now.

I think it can be fixed if I can get it out of there. Looking at it, it seems to be spot-welded down, but I'll know more once I get the rest of the dash out.

I had the tools to do it and couldn't find anything closer than 500 miles away. So when all else fails, give it your best shot knowing that worst case, I drive the 500 miles if everything goes bad.

Really like the way it turned out.

Realized that I haven't updated my pictures in Flickr. Added 66 pictures during the night.

And before someone comments, I had the radiator support mounted above the frame instead of through. I guess I should have checked my own pictures.

Rotisserie showed on yesterday! Just about assembled and the body should go on it tomorrow.

Body on rotisserie last weekend and started to do a few things, but not too much got done.

This weekend was pretty big so far, more coming tomorrow. Got the back window out and cleaned off all of the caulk/tar, scraped w/ a torch half of the body of what is left of the undercoating.

Split the inner and outer fender and will drop them off this week at the body shop.

Looks like I will be needing a partial floor pan on the driver side and either a few brace ends or full braces. Everything else so far looks pretty good.

Hopefully I will have my 8" wheels on the rotisserie soon so I can move it out into the driveway to start sandblasting the whole thing next weekend. (weather permitting...)

I have to get out here and post more things and take more pictures.

Car has been on the rotisserie for a month now, and stripped off all of the undercoating with a paint scraper and a torch. Also torched off any fiberglass repairs that we did back in 91ish. It's pretty much cleaned off now and everything bad has been exposed.

Tried to build a tent in the garage to try and sand blast it inside, but not enough ventilation to be able to do it that way.

So, since it's getting warmer outside, last weekend I welded up some arms for the rotisserie and just an hour ago, I put the 8" wheels on it. I can now move it around with one hand, so going over uneven surfaces like gravel will be easy.

Tomorrow I'm rolling it out into the driveway while the ground is still frozen, and tomorrow morning/afternoon I'm going to sand blast off at least the underside of the body. When the ground freezes again, I'll be moving it back into the garage because it'll be easier by myself.

Ugh, there goes my plans for the day. Expecting rain today, so no sand blasting outside.

Guess it's back to working on the wife's Wrangler, and replacing some U-joints.

Once I get the body back on the frame, I have a feeling it'll go real quick like it did with the chassis.

There goes my plans for the next few weeks! Thank you mother nature!

Snow, sleet, hail and rain in NE Wisconsin the last week.

I guess taking the body out of the garage and sand blasting has been put on hold until I can at least see my driveway.

Oh well, times is running out for me to be driving it in September.

Finally! An really nice day today and got the body out of the garage. 8" wheels worked awesome, and was able to move it to where I needed it to sand blast it. Did the entire bottom, trunk and the firewall. Might bring it out to do some more, but I'll have my body guy stop out this week to tell me what he thinks.

Unhappy

Do you ever have one of the projects that just gets lost while waiting for help from someone, and they never have time to help you out? Picked up a complete floor and outer rockers from AMD and it's some nice quality stuff as well as some outer wheel wells and 2 repo rear quarters.

Last fall, I started to separate some panels that I know would have to be done, and practice drilling out spot welds. Well, go forward to 2 weeks ago, I decided enough was enough waiting fr help and it's time to learn how replace body panels. Rough cut the floor out, and then today started cleaning up the edges to install the new floor, and prep for changing out the rockers. It's about 60% cleaned out now, and tomorrow I'll try and finish up with that part.

Then once I get the floor remounted, I'm going to do the outer rockers and fix the front lower corners in the next few weeks. I'll be trying to post progress and not let it sit in the corner from here on out.

Here's a pic from the completion of today..
