We just ordered another singe bare head to be sliced up and dissected to evaluate these heads properly. Look for an upcoming magazine article with all the details.

Will you be using/testing the Speedmaster MLS head gaskets too?

I have seen some SpeedMaster Quality problems.
This was a brand new out of the box intake with a hole in one of the runners. I cannot get the You Tube Viewing window to work so this is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8uj...RE7zij&index=3

Good deal. Just wanted to share what I had found. Not trying to slam a vendor. Everyone has quality problems. Would have thought a quick vacuum check would have found the problem before a customer.
Just think how long it might have taken to find this hole on the car, and how bad the engine would have run.

Anyone Ever Slice Up A Cylinder Head?
I should have that sacrificial head on Monday and just wondered if anyone had ever sliced one of these up in the past. I can use a band saw but my concern is not so much cutting the aluminum as much as cutting the seats.
I also have a nice cutoff saw that I might use. They say, "Experience is the best teacher", but I say, "Other people's experience is the best teacher". Class is open and the teacher is now the student.

If these heads turn out to be as good as they look there will be no reason left to try to save a pair of iron heads unless it’s a concours, numbers matching or just already had a ton of port work done to iron heads. I think getting someone to cast a set of Pontiac iron heads would be a great idea but I just don’t see it happening. I bought a bare 455 block because it was all I could find. The only part on it that isn’t aftermarket is the block itself. After searching for heads for a while I gave up and set my sites on Edelbrock. I looked on eBay for months and just finding good castings that had been rebuilt we’re 2/3rd of the way there. Why not go aluminum and get 310 cfm

eBay Store
We put a bunch of heads on our eBay Store at https://www.ebay.com/str/rpmspeedshopindy and we are getting better than 10 times the response on the Pontiac heads. That shows you why "they" can ask and get more money. There is a high demand and relatively few choices.
No matter how you slice it, this is great news for our Arrow Injuneering heads too! Nice to see so many people still keeping the Pontiac torch burning bright. BTW, if you go to the store and make a best offer of $1799 for the complete SpeedMaster heads or $769 per head bare, you got a deal!

There’s been a lot of speculation on why heads are priced like they are for the Pontiac world. I’ve long suspected that to an extent they are priced high because they can be. Not necessarily because their overhead is larger.

Did you get a chance to slice open a head?
I'm very interested in these. If everything looks good I don't mind picking up a set and being the Guinea pig.
