I was literally shaken when I read this on Facebook this morning. It's not fair. Not for him or his kids. I don't have a lot of disposable income due to being out of work for a while and now trying to get my business up and running but I am going to donate what i can for his kids. I hope he can see this thread and all the love that people who have never met him but through a computer have for him.

God speed Mike.

from our chat Thursday around 3:30am

They're talking about throwing me out of the hospital on sat. Grab a couple buckets of extra crispy KFC and come on up.
Dude. Double order of wedges on top of the mashed potatoes. An extra side of gravy also

Ill be having lunch tomorrow with mike.

Patrick

This is very sad news. Mike, Even though we have never met, prayers to you and your 3 children. I know I am not the only one you have contributed your knowledge and patience to. It has been greatly appreciated. Hope to finally meet you soon. Thank you Don Keefe and Brian Baker for letting us know. Donation sent.

Sounds like the Mike I know!!

Unless you are passing thru here, I will have to go on my own. ...And I might just make the drive. I think the Tempest will make it, Mike needs to see the car anyway, and I would like to see my friend.

To Herdswoman's offer, IF I can make this ride, I have room for a couple of riders if you want to go.

Well, it's not much but Linda and I are each in for a hunnert bucks, plus another $50. I also posted this on the RediRad page on facebook.

Mike, if you're up to it, call me. Otherwise I will shout at you early this week.

BTW, if there is a hospital phone number, (someone) please share it.

Don, thanks for the Paypal address. That's what I was waiting to see, and thanks, David for posting the thread.

Then Mike went on to his doctor "Hell, I've had so much fun in this life, no one would ever believe the things I've done and probably still ought to be in jail!" Even though I was on the phone 150 miles away, I felt kinda sorry for the reserved little Indian doctor that has spent his whole life sheltered behind books, manners, and protocols....he's never met a Mike before, let alone a Mike on Dilaudid. A well-practiced professional straight face can only take ya so far.

Afterward, when we finally had a chance to talk seriously..... In Mike's words "I want to go out like a steam engine, not a diesel, and when the Grim Reaper comes for me I'm going to tell him to move over because I want to drive the bus."

Mike's going home, and we didn't discuss chemo or radiation or any such thing. He's living his life on his terms, and seriously, could anyone here picture Mike living - and dying - any other way except 100% on his terms?

I'm making the trip to Portland next Saturday, and anyone who wants to ride along is welcome.
Fantastic to hear the discussion, Amy. Thanks for sharing that with us.

This one stuns me. I only know Mike from reading his words, but he is one I just like and he seems to think a bit like me and I know he knows vintage music and he is fun to read when he talks music also, beside Ponchos. He is one that his spirit shines through his words and it has always made that Mike is a Good Guy. I look to read his posts and just enjoy the man as one with a thought worth reading. I am just stunned. Love Ya Brother, ride strong....... sigh.

Mike helped me with info for my 62 wagon. Met him in Dayton at the convention. Great guy. Talked to him and Tray for probably close to an hour and could have talked to him all day. Knowledgeable guy. My prayers are going up for Mike and family.

Mike's a long time friend of ours well before we served together on the POCI Board of Directors. If you know Mike, then you will agree that he's too stubborn to succumb to this disease since most of his many projects are already long overdue . Stay strong Mike; we are pulling for you to clear this obstacle as you have so many others .
