My 67 HO/AT GTO was Tyrol blue with parchment interior and I will probably keep it that same color combo when I get to that point (paint and interior). Most of the car is matching (engine, heads, intake, trans) but I just really like the color. I am surprised that no one to this point in this thread has mentioned this color combination, I thought it was pretty popular in 67.

Well,I'll chime it too. My 69 GTO was hatched Cameo White with a black vinyl top and black interior. The 2nd owner painted the car some type of blue in the early 80's. Being the 3rd owner, when I am done with my frame off resto it will be back to it's original Cameo White.

Unless you are trying to do a 100% restore as it was originally, you should go with a color you like. I comes down to, are you doing this project for you to enjoy for the long term or are you trying to simply getting it ready to sell to someone else? If that's what you're doing, then either go with original color or resale red!

my 65 was and IS "iris mist" if you looked at the order/color sheet prior to buying my goat you would never pick iris mist ,but I was luckey to see one before I ordered mine .but it's worth much more original and I would never never paint it red ,too many guys do that..original is better but you own the car and some are ugly colors but it would have to look real bad before I'd change it ...louie,in the mountains/forest of north jersey -a disabled vietnam vet...bought it new at 16 from muskrat trapping money, took the pelt to nyc every weekend until I had aprox. $3000 and got the car before my licence and war...

67 GTO convertable , originally regimental red...painted same

68 GTO originally verdoro green,...painted black (optional choice)

66 Tempest originally brown,....painted dark metallic blue (custom mix)

67 GTO was custom red,...repainted the original Plum Mist.

So my personal tally is one original and kept it that way,...
one orignal changed to different original color option,...
one original changed to custom color,...
And one custom color changed back to original,...

Do what makes you happy,...it's always worked for me.

Let's see...
68 LeMans Burgundy Maroon repaint at home.
69 Firebird Limelight Green repaint
70 Judge Orbit Orange repaint
70 GTO Conv Medium Blue repaint
68 GTO Lime green to Burgundy Maroon
69 Firebird Verdoro Green repaint.

I was most pleased with repaints of the Car's Original Color. HIS

1965 GTO. Ordered w/Iris Mist, black vinyl top and parchemnt interior. When we got the car last year it had been redone but with a white vinyl top. One of the first things we did was put it back to the original color scheme.

I can't imagine why anybody would change the colour from the original. Its like replacing the engine from a numbers matching car just for the hell of it! Any classic car should remain exactly as it came out of the factory if at all possible. This is what ownership & restoration is all about!

Pod.

I kept the original Yorktown Blue. Some people ask who picked out the color and I respond it is the original paint that the car came with. It is not a very popular color, in fact I have only seen one other 64 with Yorktown Blue and it was on Ebay.

I went original green on my 70 gto. If it wasn't numbers matching I would have went orbit orange with a fake judge wing and stickers. But since its original why lower its value. And green isn't that bad.

Began life as a red on red, black top 400 2-bbl. Grew up into a 455, bright yellow, black interior, black top. Have a look >>

My 69 was born with Champagne on the inside and outside. Quite boring and bland if you ask me. Currently carousel red. Definately going with black interior and probably some sort of candy or pearl newer color. I like the Tangelo (orangish-yellow) pearl that the 05 stang was wearing at one of the trade shows, but I'm not sure how it would look on an older car.

The Goat was originally Meridian Turquoise with Turquoise interior. I like the color and will without a doubt go back with it. I'm nixing the black vinyl top though most likely, although I have considered painting the top white.

The Trans Am will get it's original colors too I think. Admiralty blue with black deluxe interior.

My convertible was originally Antique Gold/Antique Gold interior..bliccckkk. Now Starlite Black/Parchment interior. It is #'s matching, but I couldn't stand that color.

Have had several. All were painted the correct original color when sold by me (not all came to me that way). I have to admit my current 1974 was much more attractive (at least to me) in white than in the lime green which we repainted it. I looked for years for a different color in a '74, and finally found this one as a manual transmission car.

1965 Tri-power 4-speed. Original Teal Turqousie with parchment interior. Since the car is numbers matching I will probably keep it this way. But some other cars I've seen this color seem so bland. Hopefully a nice simple pinstripe and a set of original Appliance "torque thrust" wheels will help set it off.
