Looks great, getting close!
I installed the same brakes you have and just so you know that master cylinder will start to "flash" rust in no time. 3 months old and I ended up having to paint it.

How do you like your brakes? Were they a good investment?

I started installing the exhaust i fabbed up a while back. Heres a couple shots from the underside. I dont like how low the super comp headers hang but i'm not lowering the car much so it shouldn't be a big deal. I'm hoping i don't have any issue with it but i know once i start driving ill be paying close attention to how low the exhaust hangs.
On a good note notice the California floor pans. 45 years old and they look like they're brand new yet |

Here's a couple shots of the crossmember i had to do fab work on and clean up. Once i make sure i like exactly how it sits i'm going to do some more fab work on the ends and eliminate the rubber. Anyone have any suggestions on that?

Haha...yeah you sure do. It's a mess. I'm probably just going to replace all the wiring sooner or later.

Yeah they are great! Just like driving any modern car, they work really well. I haven't pushed all that hard to see when they will fade but for minor spirited driving they have held up great. Only regret is that I didn't get the coated rotors as those have "flashed over" as well.

Nick,
You are doing a great job on your car. I wish I could do as much on mine. Are you sure you want to remove the rubber mounts on the transmission crossmember? You will feel vibration from the drivetrain that you may not like.

Pulling out some barely used fuel system parts to clean up and install.
I bought these from a PY member about a year ago. My fuel system -New tank -8 AN lines and fittings -RobbMc 1/2 sending unit -RobbMc 1100 fuel pump -RobbMc regulator -RobbMc filters -VDO pressure gauge -custom bracket to mount the regulator to the power steering box |

Nick, to keep the brake booster from rusting is easy to do. Wipe some Gibbs brand on it, or spray it with Eastwood's Diamond Clear.
Tho I'd say Gibbs would last longer. www.gibbsbrand.com Ask Old Goat 67 (Charles) how good it is. Check this site too.... http://www.roadsters.com/gibbs/

So ive been working 6 days a week on 3rd shift, long hours and i havent gotten a ton done in the last month. I have made some new clutch linkage with spherical rod ends, with the help of a tool maker at work who ran a custom part for me and drilled and tapped my original firewall rod. I learned that you dont want heim joints on both ends of the firewall rod. It will be VERY sloppy. I also used some fixture bolts and nylocks instead of the pin and clip. After finding that the firewall rod was sloppy with heim joints on both ends, I had another tool maker buddy cut me a cup to take the movement out of the heim joint under the dash and it made it all better. My clutch engagement is fluid. Smooth at glass now. No slop at all. It was a pain in the ass though. I actually had a thought of possibly building this stuff for sale but i think it would be a losing venture. Anyow heres a couple pics....
The stock sloppy part and the new piece. Firewall rod. I shouldn't have put heim joints on both ends. I ended up having a custom cup made to fit over the mounting side of the heim joint under the dash to take the movement out of it. |
