Agree. 90% don't spend the time to run the power number on a timeslip.

Link to to the 402 powered Camaro in my previous post. Pretty impressive to me, considering how streetable it is.

There were plenty of fast LS builds when I was playing with them. Most all of them were in the 4th gen F-body platform. Had a couple of buddies that played with them all the time. One ran 11.40's and was just a stock 5.7 LS1 longblock with a cam swap, had a good Vigilante converter in the 4L60E and ran 3.42 gears out back. It was really nothing exotic at all.
My other buddy ran a 6.0 in his 4th gen with ported heads and a cam swap, and a crank making it a 402. His was also an automatic with 3.73's out back. His car ran 10.60's at 128 mph and he drove it on the street everywhere. Crazy how docile it was. I knew of a couple others rowing a 6 speed into the 10's as well that were pretty cool. Back then the 6 speeds would break stuff occasionally (before the aftermarket magnum stuff got into swing) but really fun to watch. Even at that time a 10 second street car that was all motor and driving around everywhere was pretty scarce in a classic car, the LS engines made it look easy. Nowadays I don't see a lot of that going on. Those 4th gens are going on 20 years old now and the platforms that came after started getting pretty heavy. Again here. Quote:
The bottom line is what is a given platform capable of --- LS dominate here. You can't and won't beat someone 1/2 second faster! No contest... just a mauling. |

When I dropped that 6.0 in my blazer, it came from a 2005 3/4 ton pickup. Only thing I did to it was a custom tune, basically removing all the emissions stuff not needed for the swap, and dialing in the timing and fuel curve. Otherwise it was a bone stocker, and that thing would boogy for a 5300 lbs 4X4 truck. |

ok, i think i got it figured out. i’m gonna pull the 6.0, snow tires, and mud flaps from my 2500HD and put them in/on my GTO, and pull the 505 out of the GTO and put it in the 2500HD. Only question now is do I change the transmissions too? Not sure whether the muncie goes in the 2500HD or stays behind the 6.0. This forum is awesome! |

You don't see many people building Pontiac that small (why on earth would they??). Also most Pontiac people settle for status quo instead of trying to do better (hence all the 068, OF cams and 290cfm kre d-port builds). But the potential is different there imo. |

That is instantly obvious when looking other forums.. nearly every Ford, Chevy whatever engine is unique. Custom cams etc. No focus on one set LSA. lol |

6years ago or so Jake (BADDTA son) built a 434ci made 700+. I guarantee it would make more with 6yrs of development. It didn't have a big cam either.

That’s a pretty snotty street engine but maybe it could hang. Or do the traditional 4.25 stroke in a 400 block, a bit more docile. But probably far rowdier than a 600 hp LS? |

705 hp @ 6900
Ceralli Edelbrock 65cc "Tiger Cub" cnc ported 348 cfm @ .800 lift 2.15/1.71 Manley Gen II stainless valves. 11.33:1 comp Scott Brown roller cam. .769/.767 lift https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...&postcount=120 LS still do better with less. much less cam, more streetable. If you asked Bill C or Scott Brown,, I'd bet they would say 50 to 100 HP more using LS. Here we are -- LS 408 - 769 HP N/A pump gas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tVC6pL4e8Q At 2:35 if we pause the video.. dyno sheet actually has 791 HP @ 7200 to 7400 RPM. but yes 769 at 8400. I've been to all the tracks around Chicago and yet to see a na ls street car stand out. You keep posting all these dyno results like their very common builds. Why are we seeing them at the tracks?? |
