Went for a ride today just to test the automatic. So weird to me with no clutch. The converter seems tight, but I think it will spool when I hook the transbrake up. My neighbor came out asked me to do a burn out, I did! started in first soon as it started to spin shifted second and fogged the block out. My wife the came out of the house and was yelling about the kids. They were all on my neighbors lawn watching the burnout!!! Funny chit!!

Doesn't hurt to "WOW" the neighborhood kids with a Pontiac Motor "Tire Burning Demonstration" at least once to keep the Pontiac Hobby alive.

Default GRRRRRRRRRRR my car hates trannys

I had the car out a few times already, today I had 1.5 to kill before soccer games. I laid into the car real hard( racing a rice rocket) hit second and broke the sprag.( I think). I only have 1st and 3rd, second does not hit hard, sometimes it feels like it is in neutral. I had a hd 34 element, guess I need the pro mod 36 element sprag. The fat girl must be making some bacon. Left marks as long as I am on the gas.
The bike pulled up next to me at the light and gave me a big thumbs up at least.

Think you are on the right track.
Marty P killed 2nd gear on one of the first passes at Norwalk and later that weekend still ran 194 mph going 1st gear, skipping 2nd gear, and then running it out in high gear. 7.40s et in 1996.
Boost will do that to auto trans.
Get it upgraded and get back out there.

All part of the game. Got a chance to have breakfast with Neal Chance of Chance Converters in Florida at one of the PRI shows
that I worked with Bob and Frank.
Neal really knew how to put a Turbo Torque Converter together. Food for thought.
He really liked Marty Palbykin.

Did the car hook up hard when you hit 2nd? How did it feel before it broke cruising around shifting into 2nd? The 34 element sprag is very tough especially a brand new one like yours unless the builder set it up to slam into 2nd. Also check the hub the sprag rides on for grooves or wear or the builder buffed the surface. I like a positive shift without the neck snap and use the 4L80e setup. Thinner steels but 4 clutches and you can use one or 2 of the thicker 400 steels to get the pack tighter. The looser the pack the harder it going to hit. Customers always want to 'chirp' 2nd but it hammers that sprag

Put a 36 element sprag in it and be done with it!

It hit pretty hard, everyone told me with the weight of the car, the power it makes and a sticky drag radials, I should have a 36 element pro mod sprag. I was hoping it would get thru the season.
as the old saying goes, if you can't afford to do it right the 1st time, how can you afford to do it over the second time!!
Hope it is just the sprag.

It had a new billet hub, a 300 m big spline input shaft, extra clutches, fti trans brake.

Chris @ CK doesn't like to add extra clutches for the 2nd gear. He said that little slip saves the sprag.
