I think Bruce just don't see a N/A D-port car running as quick as his E-headed at more wight.
Am I right Goatman? You do hate the mighty D-ports right. Also the RPM? not trying to start anything Goatman just trying to see if this is where you are coming from, or if it is only the math? Anyway I was laughted at about trying to go 11's with a RPM a R/A 3 cam 3.23's , and I did it. I think since the RA3 when flat and I went to the UD cam I should be able to do better. but I wanted to use a stock cam and see if it would do what I thought it would, and it did. 11.78 at 116, and that was the only pass I was alowed to make since I have no roll bar. |

First I need to say my brothers car has E-heads with a small solid cam, 455 with stock rods and TRW's. It 60's in the 1.30's which is where a car that is that fast should be. In my opinion those computer programs are way off when it come to predicting a Pontiacs E.T.

Got nothing to do with "hate" at all. Just seen enough to know when something is a-miss.
I guess we should all stop buying Victors and E-heads and just step back 20 years or so, after all, everyone is running those numbers with "barely modified" D-ports. You guys can believe what you like, as Joe siad, its a free country, but for me, I don't believe it one bit. The dude syas he can tune my car better than me, but won't tkae me up on it either? Even when I offer to pay for the whole trip? Something is rotten in the state of Demark...... I'm like heaven, everybody wanna get to me......... |

Is your car not EFI?
If he's tuning carbs thats a whole diffrents story that EFI, he might have taken you up on tuning up your old RA4 headed carb combo maybe. I think you would have better luck asking a LS1 guy running in the 9's to work on your EFI stuff, but I bet they would make some crack about stuffing a LS1 in the car if you wanted it to go, at that point I would hope you punced them in the jaw |

grumpybear, thanks for your comments, my converter is a ati 10" 4400. If I knew your combo then I could help you out with a converter. My old 10.90 - 11.0o combo used a tight 10" 3200 converter from transpecialties(it was called the big shot).Worked great,my 60' times were 1.50,1.51 even better than what im getting now.
My whole combination: 455 .035 4.25 stock crank stroked no lifter bore brace (cam isnt big enough) ross pistons, coated skirts coated bearings oliver steel rods 6.8 crank scraper 80 m54d oil pump stef's oil pan 10w 40 pennzoil 6.5 quarts #16 heads butler race port, butler head gaskets, heads milled .050 = 11.8 to 1 compression(THEY LOOK LIKE D-PORTS TO ME . 1.60 roller rockers comp cam .631- .631 .266 - .272 at .050 installed on 110. .026 valve lash on both intake and exhaust timing is locked in at 32 degress total(have not messed with that since I only have three passes on the motor so far) Performer RPM intake, ported matched to heads,1 inch spacer, 830 holley redone by pro systems (88 jets in front and rear). 1 3/4 dougs headers, 3 inch pipe, h-pipe, spintech mufflers full tailpipes. csi water pump, electric fan, aerospace vacuum pump , 8" at 6000 turbo 350 , 10 ati 4400 stall,12 bolt 3.55's 28 X 10.5 e.t. streets stock leaf springs and slapper bars. shift at 5800 go through traps at 5950 - 6000 car weighs 3220 and 3400 - 3420 with me in it. Butler even said 600 - 620 hp is possible with the right combo. Yes it runs its ass off for what it is, but I've been tinkering with this same motor for about 5 years and keep doing things to make it faster. This didnt just happen overnight. All motor. Im glad there are some people that respect what I said because there is no reason for me to lie. Thanks for believing me. For the others it is your opinion. Supergasbil, I talked to butler about my combination and that was the intake I was running and he said just leave it on there for the beginning and see what happens. It just works, I never in my right mind thought it would pull that kind of mph either. It seems like it pulls harder up top than down low??? Thats why I ask what intake I should try next. 68 Firebird 468 #16 D-Ports w RPM intake 10.41 # 130.53 3.55 Gears Street Car

Forgot, talking about dyno #'s, total HP doesnt mean jack anyway. It all depends where your power band is and with the RPM it must be in its sweet spot all the way down the track. Running the number at the track means a hell of a lot more than having hp, you have to have a total combo to run the number and I guess im there with my combo.

I don't see the problem with him running those numbers myself. More power to him and butler port work, converter and cam combo. For one thing he is running a turbo 350 which will free some hp and get the car moving quicker. I think the 3.55 gears also keep the rpm intake in its optimun power range. I ran 10.80s yrs ago with dports at 125 in good air at 3700 lbs in the 66 GTO. Warrior intake tho.
Hell, maybe the mph clock was a little 'giving' at his track, but hat is off if his combo is dialed in. Just saw the pic of his motor and I see 25 more hp he didn't mention, the vac pump. 66 GTO RED TIGER

No, I did the aluminum thing - I'll stick with iron. FWIW, in my last two trips to the track due to variations in air tempature I saw mph swings of 3mph from a low of 135mph 95deg to 138mph 55deg. At my weight that's about a 60hp difference so air can be a big deal. A forward facing scoop can create a boosted intake tract at speed, I'd guess your scoop is helping you more than you might think. Try taking it off, be interesting to see. When I saw your post about pulling 137mph I admit it kinda made me scratch my head as I was there for your dyno pulls this year. As I recall it wasn't up much from the last time and you were running 132-133mph before right??? Your probably just spraying it like BadBird and yanking all our chains Your cars flying, frustrating that I'm having a hard time keeping up with a NA car and mines supercharged Be a fun street run - but I betcha I'd win

I was at Cecil Wed nite. The mans car does NOT have NOS. I did not see any of his runs or his timeslips. It is one badass firebird though. Like he said come to Atco and lay down some cash.
Money talks, Bull**** walks. My Rig's a little old, but that don't mean she's slow.

GTOKID, thanks .Yeah, John I know you ran faster with that junk yard motor a long time ago. I still remember when you were down terminal ave. and did that awesome burnout. . That was a killer combo for what it was, but maybe your just lying too. .

Badbird, you have a pic without a nitrous kit? Wow, yes, you're right. I have now seen the light, you deifinitely do not have nitrous. There is no way you could have added a kit after that pic was taken......
I'm still slow? I'm faster than both of you, at the same wieght. I offered an all expense paid trip up here to "show me how to tune". What's up? Engo, I still don't beleive it. Perhaps you should stay on your side of the pond, where no one can see your car run. Even with the nitrous, you're not a challenge for me. I'm like heaven, everybody wanna get to me......... |

Hey Bad,
It looks like there are some guys backing up your ride and your story. Guys, you all know that good numbers are attainable with D's. Hell in 93 my little 440 with 62's 2,900lbs with driver went 9.91 @ 134mph but I was using a 1050 with a Nash. Way before the Edelbrock movement. I just had a hard time believing Bad did it with the RPM and an 850. You have obviously found a sweet combination and more power to ya for doing it with D's! Can you post a pic of the car for us west coasters?
