The original purchaser of my '70 Trans Am was involved with The Kingston Trio an American folk and pop music group. Then later sold to Len Athanasiades the founder of Year One Muscle Car Parts. A little tid bit, Len had a '69 Firebird coupe and wanted to build a Trans Am clone. He searched high and low for both parts and information on Trans Ams, and in the process became somewhat of an expert on them. From this he founded Year One.

I was curious as to any others input , I have seen this but it was under a bunch of other stuff so some things weren't easy to see . I didn't examine or really look at it closely but it gets your attention . I was a bit surprised to see it for sale .

Mine isn't (1974 GTO), but the thread intrigues me.
If the definition of "rare" is one of so many made, then you guys with the prototypes, etc. are going to win hands-down (if driven). However, should the definition be one of so many of a given year/model on the road today, we have a different universe. There is a fellow that posts on the AACA forums that has put over 400,000 miles on a 1929 Pontiac. Now that, to me qualifies as a "daily driver"!!! Pontiac built a bunch of them, but I doubt a lot survive. Jon.

The funny thing is that "rare" is not always desirable!Tom

True, but it usually means unique, which means it's usually interesting.
Nice thread, Frank

I've got a 1977 Esprit (cloned to TA) with a 7.7 liter motor that runs 12s. It's one of zero made.

I don't know how rare my Sport Coupe is,but is has 30 original factory options that were ordered when new.I've yet to see a GTO with the CC option, other than mine. It's just one of the many rare options that I have.
I'm the second owner too.

Welcome to the forums! Your car sounds like nicely optioned car, and definitely rare in that color and engine combination.

Uncle Judge (Jeff) & I are the only two people in the world who can say they have a 72 455HO 4spd Convertible and can street drive it. We have a matching pair of Lucy blue, white top & white interior cars. Photo cred goes to Goatless (Jeremy).
I also had what may have been the only remaining 1990 1LE Trans Am (they only built 4) but the only street driving it ever got was around PY's building for a show and a few burnouts. I did get to drive it quite a bit at Lime Rock, however. Now owned by Bill Warner of Amelia Island fame.

As far as non-Pontiacs go - this one was a daily driver for 30 years and 250,000 miles. Ordered it new in 1986 and drove it off the end of the assembly line myself.
I retired it a couple Novembers ago when I got a bit bigger truck. Now it mostly hauls ice cream and little kids. K

nice!
Is that a three speed? I am a little unclear on half ton truck transmission offerings, and have been told that the only four speed offered was the "stump puller" (non-synchronized first gear) transmission. I am especially unclear on truck transmission offerings from about 1976 forward; As I have understood that from 70-76 the Muncie heavy duty three speed was pretty much standard fare for the trucks... Here's my friends truck, a 1979 retired Montana "farm" truck - she inherited it after her grandfather passed away, and fixed it up a little to her liking... but left it mostly alone. It is still regularly used as a truck. (it's a bit lower than she wanted it, but the attention it gets is almost unbelievable!) using it last year to get a load of sand - to finish my boy's sand box! (he too loves the truck!) it's far from being a rare model, but it is quite rare to see one of these still being driven around here!
