Built 2 weeks after the bulletin date should Definitely make it amongst the first cars built that color.
Your Bsheet shows it was a Customer Order So they must have came along within days after the dealer received that bulletin. Or perhaps there was a leak about the color becoming available soon , and they were just holding the order until it was fully official. It is a neat factoid to tie the car in with it that way. Going to be hard to find another one any earlier . |

I got the car In Muscatine, Iowa. It was definitely there since 1983. Obviously someone bought it in Illinois though. When I talked to the previous owner, he said the guy that he got it from bought it used.

I have the parts to do my outer wheel houses and quarters. I'd like to put new body bushings in it before I do any work. Is there any that are better than the others?
Oh and other good news is what was left of the original engine is in route to me right now! |

Inline Tube has some accurate reproductions down to different colors and molded part numbers. But be sure to research which colors were used at each position.
IT would like you to think 68-72 are all the same as well as each plant. AMK and our sponsor have the best mounting bolts with the pointed tip. The Frame chapter at the beginning of the service manual lists by part number, which bushings go where and the corresponding bolt size. And don't use an impact to remove the bolts. A half inch drive, 16' ratchet with a slow and easy approach works best for rusty bolts.

Anyone have a nifty trick for getting these rusty nuts off without the stud spinning? I tried a little handheld torch to heat it up but it still spun.

Cut a small slot in the end of the bolt to hold with a flat blade screwdriver, hold the molded carriage bolt and use a combo wrench to remove the nut. Kroil and a little heat helps too.

Oh dang that's a good idea! I already took a die grinder to the nuts. Once I had a bit removed they came right off. Now I have to get new nuts though.

I have the quarters and outer wheelhouses done. I hope to start stripping the rest of the car soon. It's been mid 90's degree temps here and monsoon rain, so I haven't been doing much with it lately. I was organizing some parts yesterday, and happened to notice some remnants of the judge stripes left on the front fenders. The car had been repainted when I got it and there were no stripes. I thought that was kind of fun.

I am getting ready to strip the paint off of my spoiler. I don't know if you can see it in the pic or not, but around the spoiler stand, you can see an indentation of where it was moulded into the spoiler. Do you guys leave it like that or make it nice/flush?

Apologies if I missed it, but did your friend pick up the engine? What a score! Check the partial VIN on the front and see if it is original to the car.

Yeah he got it. It's in pretty rough shape and will need some sleeves, but at least I was able to get it.
