Funny that the rust seems to be worse on the upper surfaces than the lower. My guess is that it's mostly the Florida environment that caused the worst of it. Salt air as opposed to salted roads. Just a guess.

Nice color...lol!

Looks like it has A/C compressor, but it doesn't show it on the build sheet.

This is the 400 H.O., as pointed out above, not a Ram Air car. Some funky things on this one. Those are the standard seats, not the Custom Trim seats shown on the invoice, and those headrests appear to be from a different GM car. Odd choice of options. Has just the AM Radio, but with an 8-track, no optional speakers. Maybe they were going to have a better stereo installed later.

It was oddly optioned , sort of.
Looks like maybe they had a strict $4000.00 budget .

4 wheel non-power drums
No Pwr Str with an Automatic

But good Engine, Interior, Wheels .... and Soft Top

This engine would have the LongBranch factory exhaust manifolds.
And either #62 or #48 heads

Greg i agree it probably went to Florida early'ish having the late 60-early 70 vintage add-on underdash AC.

All of the soft trim is gone - decent standard front seats probably just stuck in there.
Car probably sat out for a long time in previous days.

IF it were an actual R/A car - it might be worth close to asking price.
Doubt the seller is trying to dupe anyone on purpose - think he duped himself.

68 400HO auto convertible with an insane amount of options. Has a reserve at $5K and is located in Maryland. Why on earth would you put mags on this car?

Special Paint = maybe 67 Tyrol Blue , judging by what's on it now anyway.
VERY NICE CAR

Not a fan of the stripes , but they might be vinyl / removable.
Quick change on the wheels and exhaust tips and she'd be sitting pretty.

What’s up with the location of the Firebird emblems on the fenders? More than likely they have been replaced.

Good catch. That front fender Firebird emblem looks like a hack job. That typically means almost everything is. I dunno, maybe it's an old hot rod that isn't perfect?

The firewall looks unsalvageable. I wouldn't touch this car at the asking price. It needs more than it has.

"Pink 400 HO convertible" jogged an old memory... checked my files and found that a car with the same VIN (and same story...) sold on eBay in 2010. Back then I had a '68 400 Bird, so I saved some info on this one since it was such an unusual car. Picture of how it looked then is attached, so someone has done a fair amount of work to it (exterior color change from red to blue, returned interior from black to white, etc.). It was purchased in 2010 by a member on this forum, birdman67; he made a few posts about it after purchasing it, but doesn't seem to have posted anything since.

Wow. That's a nice looking car. If that's "pink" it's not the same as the Playboy cars. The choice to go to blue was a bad one IMO.

Wasn't me.
Someone probably bought into the misinformation.
Or a solid 6cyl - 350 car is about to get an upgrade.

Here's a different one. Starting out at $5k in NC, for that it would be fun to have. 85 Fiero based Ferrari with a supercharged engine.

68 Firebird in Connecticut at $3.5K with a reserve. It looks like a pretty stock 350 auto car with <86K miles. The flames are retro for sure, but I actually like them. This is the kind of car you look for if it isn't rusted and the pics look pretty good to me. Take away the flames and this car is stock. Minor things wrong with it.

69 Firebird that looks to me like it's pretending to be a real 400 HO convert. Much like the real one that sold recently, this is a beautiful car. The other car needed everything, though it was all there. In the end, this car would drive exactly the same, it's just the numbers wouldn't match and it's only $12K more. $32K BIN located in Missouri. Sharp car, but I wouldn't buy it without looking at it. That's the beauty of eBay. If you bought this car and told the seller exactly what you expected, then flew out there and it was rust bucket, you'd just not pay for it and it would be done. I bought a car this way and it a little different than he said, so he dropped the price $500 and we were good.

This one is interesting. A 1958 Pontiac Chieftian stick convertible that originally came with fuel injection and a blue top with no drivetrain. This car would be worth about $50K finished numbers matching, but it's not. How much is it worth? Asking $14.5K BIN in Wisconsin. This isn't my cup O' tea. If you were missing a part, it may be next to impossible to find. If you did find it, it would be expensive. A cool car, but not one I'd really want. It's before my time and I'm getting old.

Here's one you don't see everyday... a 1971 Lemans convertible turned into an El Camino. I really like it as it looks to be an older custom made to look factory. $5K with a reserve in Tennessee.
