After some tweaking head settled in. I was a little concerned in that the current piston dish doesnt match the position of valves in kre head. Good news on the clay test. I’ve got plenty of room. More than .200 for both valves and that does not include the .40 gasket. Was a comfort to see this.

The third pic was an early test. If u look above the valve impressions, u can see since kre chamber is smaller, the top of piston really flattens clay against top of head. That is really thin- but I think that area is known as the quench? What ever that thin was (I did not measure) will be increased by .40 gasket…

Slow but surely an hour here and there between everyday life. Heads are on, newly painted exhaust manifolds on. Push rod length ended up at 9.6 asu can see witness marks below. Good reference for others installing kre, crower lifters and 1.65 scorpion.

One head install tip from a prior blown gasket I used here again- if you have ac, there is no clearance to get back too head bolt or #8 pushrod into head. Put pushrods in lifter bores and line up with head as u drop on. And also put head bolt in from top when dropping head on block.

Latest update. Had some trouble with balancer install but eventually got it on. While I never noticed, it seems there is perhaps an 1/8 inch of shiny balancer snout that sticks out in front of seal. It looks like it should push in that 1/8 more, but the balancer is bumped against crank end point so no more rom to push in. U can see In the center crank hole here.

Pointer for timing looks in right spot too…

Been behind on posting, but by and large I have it back together. Intake went on no issue, break in was very smooth, no issues.

One simple trick for the first timers on installing clutch fan, put one bolt without washer in pulley and then drop fan on that bolt to easily align the others.

Kre heads and 1.65 scorpions require additional valve cover clearance. Note the 1” chrome spacer to match the stock valve cover. Worked well except I temporarily am using bolts from Home Depot, my valve cover studs were to short with this set up. Does anyone know where you can get minimum 2” studs for valve covers? I can t find that length anywhere.

Still working out some tuning, car is running rich. Same exhaust as before but can definitely tell a difference in tone. Throttle response is much faster and power is clearly up. I’ll send some video on next post. I will say 60919 is very smooth idle in my set up after it warms up. Was almost expecting more lope.

Several month delay in posting, but here is a video from a couple months ago put back together and idling. Rare manifolds, 2.25 pipe, dynonax ultraflows. I thought 60919 would have more lope. Car runs strong. Did not get to dyno before winter.

Dick b opening up a center carb for me and I’ll get end carbs squared as well.

Traction is a big problem. Need to work on that this winter. I know The 8.2 is not going to last as I get traction, so probably swapping out whole rear end.
