Both zinc and cadmium plating are silverish in color. The color comes from a chromate that is is applied after the zinc or Cadnium. Most yellow plated stuff prior to 1973-74 is Cadmium. The EPA came down on Cad plating and GM switched to Zinc. So if it’s yellow or silver it could be either one

Pics are interesting. Even the OTC units were always silverish or zinc. This unit was same as the Venturas, Nova, Apollo , and many more probably. Maybe there was more than one supplier for the original assembly, which makes sense. We see this in Bolts on the same car.

This is one the one I Had..nos lense and replated in gold.
Has gasket and ground too. I felt it was correct for 69-73.

Did you remove the socket and wire for it to be plated? Looks like the socket is plated as well.
