That's why the newest car I own is a 1969!!

Had a call at work this morning. One of the fork lifts wouldn't start. Funny how they run better when you put Diesel in the tank!

Glad it isn't just me that dislikes these things. How is a driver supposed to safely adjust the heater, radio, air conditioner, DEFROSTER, etc.!!!

And along the same lines, why cannot the computer that generates the icons generate text? The only way to figure out what all those politically correct icons mean is to use Google!!! Would be nice if there were a setting in "settings" to allow the computer to generate text, and then a submenu to allow different languages. Depending on what source you believe, either the Sumerians or the Egyptians devised pictographs or hieroglyphics about 4000 years before the birth of Christ. So in 6000 years we have progressed from hieroglyphics to icons

We now even have a "Mayhem" insurance commercial about these things!

Jon.

My automotive pet peeve? Cars that don't use keys anymore. Can someone tell me why anything short of a race car needs a push button start? I hate them!
I love the keyless entry and push button start. I also installed keyless entry on my front door. Don't have to mess with keys anymore.

My ignition lock is worn out on my 93 K3500 so I don't need a key to start it, don't have to mess with keys anymore either.............

Even has a way that it's disabled because the glow plug relay is wired to a push button on the dash. I doubt anyone could figure out the combination to start it. The truck is so ugly no one would be looking to steal it anyway..............LOL

Jon, not only buttons but toggle switches too. There no feeling like throwing a toggle switch to turn on the headlights, heater, or anything else you can turn on and off. Even that toggle switch under the dash to turn off the brake lights.

My pet peeve is the rear wipers with a power-on switch instead of a momentary push button. Being controlled by a switch instead of a relay means I get into my wife's Acadia and notice the rear wiper running even though it hasn't rained in three days.

She's not the only one, though, I'll forget to turn it off myself, sometimes.

Drivers who come up behind you and tailgate instead of passing when they can. I even slow down a bit to allow them to pass on a long straight stretch no cars coming. Still tailgat n refuse to pass. Arrrgh.

One of my biggest pet peeve automotive related is............people who don't move over far enough in left-hand turning lanes! Ahhhhh! It drives me nuts! You are blocking both lanes. Having your a## stuck out in my lane is not helping the flow of traffic.

People who think the middle lane on a 5 lane is a driving lane and will drive in it for a 1/4 mile at 25 mph not knowing it is for merging into traffic

AArrrgggg,,,, Latest peeve,,,, Here in the Phoenix area, most of the freeways have on & off ramps every mile or so. Now people are using them as a passing lane. They will hang in the far right lane. As soon as an on/off lane opens up, they jump in it & pass as many cars as they can till the lane goes away. Then they cut back into the main flow of traffic. Have seen many accidents due to this & really pisses off a lot of people.

Multiple Causes:
Our society is going "faster" ie everyone must hurry
Vehicles are built with vastly better brakes now
Traffic everywhere is denser than the past
People have lesser "manners" than the past (acceptable now)

Above are why I believe people now will drive like crazy people, even accelerating to stop signs and red lights close ahead, and then slam power brake to a stop.

I don't care how people drive however, but I HATE the above when you add in me in vintage car that has never been hit in rear sitting at above mentioned red light, watching car accelerate to me stopped ahead rather fast, then power brake to a precision stop 9.5" from my never hit bumper. It makes me want to add James Bond style hidden trunk mounted 50's with just the barrel tips protruding each side of my license plate. Special aimed / sighted for average C/L of enemy vehicle engine block. Just leave 'em sittin, smoking; and sprayin' green OK I feel better now.

Anthony - add 1 switch, 1 model T Ford (do I dare quote the name here?) spark coil, about 25 feet of high voltage wire, and drill and tap your exhaust extensions for spark plugs! Also a good deterrant for tail-gators! Kick the transmission in neutral, blip the footfeed, and hit the switch

Jon.

I don't like people that cannot keep their car in the appropriate lane. When you make a turn, there is a portion of the road that you should be in, you should not be corner cutting, or crossing several lanes because you want to be in the far lane. Make your turn, establish your presence in the correct lane, and then signal to make another lane change to get to where you want to be...don't change three lanes in one turn, that's not the correct way to do it, but it seems like everyone does it.

If you drift over 2 lanes while making a turn on a multilane street while taking a CDL test you'll fail. Wish more people were held to the standard that CDL drivers are, there would be a heckuva lot less people with drivers licenses. Maybe a few more that used turn signals all the time instead of just when THEY feel they should use them. Turn signals aren't optional, they're required by law. Problem is that most LEOs don't use them either and see no reason for others to use them, or enforce the law. Sorry, that's a huge pet peeve of mine.

As long as we're at it, people that don't turn their lights on when it's dark or in inclement weather (rain or snow). In Ohio if your wipers are on it's a law that your headlights are also required. People have no idea that driving a semi with all the mist coming from a trucks tires. A car overtaking a truck with no lights is almost invisible in daylight. The way people drive without lights on you'd think they're afraid their electric bill will go up if they turn their lights on..............

I'm on a roll, so the people that never bother to either hookup the trailer lights, or check to see if they work after hooking the trailer up really fry me too. I can't even imagine how many times I've come up on a dark trailer at night in the last 10-15 years. Same as turn signals, just a little effort may save someones life.

I guess I'll relax when all the lazy people that can't be bothered to use turn signals, or check the lights on their trailers etc. have self driving cars and the human equation is taken out from behind the wheel.

Seeing I still hold my Class A CDL, and I agree with you 100% Brad. 4 wheelers might hate the 18 wheel trucks, but what would we all do without them? Starve and be even more pizzed off.

And to add the cell phone issue. Most all states have made the "Hands Free" law for cell phones, but I don't see cops here doing anything about those that ignore the law.

People who drive in the far left lane until they get to their exit and then they cut across traffic to get off.
People who sit across the intersection at a red light but won't signal a left turn so they can get the jump when the light turns green.

Can't rev the engine WHILE under the hood to hear a specific noise, or just to hear the engine
Can't start the engine just by leaning through the window and reach the ignition switch: you have to sit and press the brake pedal.
Can't put the car in neutral UNLESS you're seated, have the key with you, and press the brake pedal.

Heres another one of mine:

The reverse lights turning on after exiting the vehicle. I see it all the time in parking lots, and you think the person is trying to back out of the spot, until you notice them walking away from the vehicle.
