Thanks for the info paul.
And for the new power plant I've figured the linkage problem out and it works great.
The motor is ready to be installed in my firebird and hope to have it in by the end of
next week and maybe take it for a test run. whether permitting.
I was in the garage cracking the throttle on it pretty heavy and watching the boost
gage, Well it was well over 15 psi I know this is free revving but WOW I think
this is going to be an animal. I'll let ya know.
Anyone know if this psi free revving will compare to be close to the same pushing
the car?

I was running the blower motor some more and this thing will peg the gauge.
My friend was watching the gage and said it was over 20psi of boost.
That's way to much exspiesly for this motor. from BDS chart it says it's
making around 17:00:1 compression. That's good race gas for sure.
I'll probably switch the pullys back so it's under driven to take some boost
out of it. Maybe get it around 12 psi plus keep it at around 5500 rpm's as
I don't have a tach hook up to the motor yet. To Be Continued!!!!!!!!!!!!

226/234 @ .050 .458/.473 114 LSA

The Blazer is from the 80's and the very back of the core (part that would rub against the core plug) would usually say Blazer 288-2H.

The other cam would say CCH-288-2-NC in the same area.

BTW Cool car and project

Here is a few pics of the heads I'm going to use for this 80-firebird.
The before and after porting. There 1968-17 heads that someone
had already installed bigger intake valves. They only did a very
short throat cut and left a lot of material that I had to grind away.
There 78 cc and should work good on this 455 motor.
That last cam you posted paul is the one I have but I think I'm
going to use a little bigger cam. It's a ultr dyne .485-507 lift
And 231-239-dur on a 110 lsa kinda similar to a raiv.

These heads are at 78-cc so I can remove the material I need to
Get the compression where I want it which will be around 9.7.
I'll know more when I do a mock to see where the deck height is.
Thanks for the info on the cam srec's Paul.

I finally drove the firebird with the new blower motor.
I drove it to lunch yesterday, I did a few short blast
with it nothing real hard or heavy but it feels pretty
strong. I replaced the front coil springs cause with
the other ones it sat to low and now it's way to high
so I'll have to cut them some to get the correct ride
hight. And I've got to get a better alt cause this one
won't keep the battery charged.
After these fixes I'll do some hard blast with it.
Stay Tuned

The only bad thing about finishing a car so late in the year
Is the bad weather you have to contend with to get your
car out to drive it. Seems like I go through this every year
But I've got six of them going this year so far.
My goal was seven, I've still got two months. Will see.
I'm going to drive it tomorrow to lunch I'll let ya know
how well it runs guys. And maybe a vid this weekend.

memory of what this motor is. You can go back to the page and read
more if you like.

Default Oil Pump Pick Up

Maybe you already did, but if you haven't, I would either Braze or Weld that Pick-Up Tube to the Oil Pump.

If you haven't and it's working for you, so be it. But, if you ever lose Oil Pressure, look there first.

My $0.02

I'm still thinking your trying to shove too much boost in it.......what you put in you have to get out! Back a long time ago I use to run an Mr. Gasket Ultra Seal head gasket.......its a BAD ass head gasket!!

I'm definetly pushing to much boost that's for sure.
If I could get it to go through the traps at no more than 5500
I would probably be ok but I'm not going to do all that's needed
for this car because this motor is for another firebird I have.
For now I'm going to swap pulleys around for less boost or
just leave it and have a fun street car. The head gaskets were
the ones that came with it when I got the blower. I bought the
intire motor setup complete motor blower carbs every thing just
split them up to make two motor combinations. I believe there
the ones butler sells for this app. I'll replace the head gaskets
And switch pulleys for now. Drag week is only two months away
So I've got to get testing with the Tempest plus go to Norwalk.

Well it wasn't a head gasket, Torched a piston.
So it's time to put the stroker motor back in this one.
I'll repair the blower motor later.
To many hot rods, turning into a second job
