Using VR-1 non-synthetic these days, but would also use Brad Penn or Torco just the same if it were easier to find locally.

Dont really use an addititve beyond initial cam break-in,and for that I typically use the Crane super-lube,but were I going to use one,it would likely be the Torco ZEP additive.

I see in the test that the Quaker state Defy did very well in the test at the no. 7 spot, still, I just have a hard time pouring anything with the name Quaker State into my engine (aside from the Quaker State 100% synthetic which is very good in a roller motor). Back in the old days you didn't have to worry about this but not anymore. Guess I'll try the Quaker state Defy semi synthetic. It would be the bargain of the bunch. Plus you can buy it a Wally world. I agree that too much additive can be a bad thing and part of the problems were the bad materials used or even bad machining of cams and even some blocks (mostly chevy stuff)

Default oil??

the best bang for the buck is Wal-Mart Super tech Universal oil,15-40 ,, it has both gas and diesel certifications. and is 2.74 a quart here in OKC.from what i have read online it has plenty of ZDDP..WM is also selling 5-20 & 5-30 dino oil now, also 2.74 a quart,so for winter i use the thin 5-20 and a can of ZDDP.

I start out with shell diesel and then switch to amsoil in my 421 sd's. Just run the diesel in the 67 GTO.
