They are both Quick but I give the edge to the RA II - just check out the Recent Pure Stock Ranks for Pontiacs .

I'd have to say the II has the edge in the PSMCD & FAST classes only due to the amount of time, money & effort Rick & Scott have put into those cars. They set a goal and did whatever was required to reach it.

I call BS on this as it has been a week and no pictures or solid evidence that the car exists.

I think the 69 is an improved car over the 68, but I know of probably twice as many ra4 cars as I do the ra2 cars (im talking birds not gtos also). I will also say that I have probably had 3 times the requests to purchase my 68 over either of the 69's

I'm personally partial to the '67/'68. It's just a much cleaner design in my opinion and the front end/grille design is a 'no contest' deal to me....That's not to say that the '69 isn't a fine looking car in it's own right.
In other words, the only reason the '69 isn't the best looking bird is because they made a '67, '68, '70, '71, '72 and '73.....outside of those though, it's the best...

Styling is subjective.

I'm partial to the 1969's over the 67-68 Firebirds. The 69's appear wider and lower than than the 67-68's, and were far more aggressive looking. The 69 Firebird shared one of those 'family resemblance' things with a nose design shared with the 1969 Grand Prix. But the Firebird used Frenched-in headlights as opposed to the Grand Prix's flush headlights, and that headlight design proved to be a styling cue later seen on the 1970 GTO. In fact, another styling cue seen on the 1970 GTO were the body side windsplits, which was also seen first on the 1969 Firebird.

If you see a 1969 Firebird with a body colored bumper, it looks nearly identical to the 1970 GTO.

Some people dislike 68 GTO's and prefer 69 GTO's. Better taillights, better grilles. Others prefer 68's over 69's, for the very same reasons. Some dislike 67 GTO's and their chain link fence grille, and prefer the cleaner 66 GTO grille. Some dislike all those years and prefer the 65 GTO's, while others like the 70 GTO the best.

It's all subjective, and if everyone loved the same year muscle cars, the world would be a pretty boring place.

I hope you guys know that I only said that the 69 is the best because its the only one I have owned and truly ever known lol.

But, yeah here it comes, I do think that the styling of the 67/68 bird seems misplaced in certain areas of the car. I'll admit that a 67/68 Convertible looks a ton better than a hardtop for reasons I cannot explain.

As Mike has stated the 69 looks more aggressive, lower, meaner, lighter than 67/68's. Getting rid of the giant chrome bumper and adding better styled park lamps really sets off the car.

From Mike's page ..... Look at that bad looking girl right there!

Of course the bad mamba jamba 69 Trans Am

Everything about a 68 Ram2 Bird is slow -
especially trying to get info on them .

Its still real early into the scenario compared to some others that have surfaced or been mentioned over the years .
One new member popped up a while back with a stated 1 owner car.
Then no further posts.
About a year later he disclosed some details.
Genuine real McCoy #s 4spd car with special paint his father bought new.
Full documentation all the way back to the original order form.
Cali car - all original - even the paint

never know

I agree I like the look of the 69 better but that's just personal preference. The 67 68 can fit a bigger rear tire so that's a huge plus. The 69 just looks heavier, lower, more centered to me. They are so different 67,68 and then 69 its hard to believe they are underneath really the same thing.

The 67 ,68 is a little more plain to me, more no nonsense than the 69

Got to love those vent windows on a hot day without A/C though, wished many a time that my 69 was made w vent windows especially w the turbo heat on the return road. They are all really great cars
Funny how the GTO came first but the style of the GTO followed the firebird. 67 bird and 68 GTO look alike. 67 68 bird and 69 GTO look alike, 69 bird and 70 GTO look alike.
You'd think w the GTO coming first the bird would have followed the look of the GTO instead.

Also funny to me hat bird guys aren't usually GTO people and GTO guys aren't usually bird people. They really aren't THAT different other than the full frame vs uni body.my turbo 69 firebird w its one color glass nose, big 315 radials and no badging gets mistaken for a GTO constantly.

Correct me if wrong(know you will ), the 68's where lighter then 69's.
Only dif in engines where 1.52 rkrs in 68 vs 1.65 in 69's.
