lookin at all these pics keeps bringing me back to ebay hunting up all the bikes i remember having, if i had only knew they would be worth a little back then. accorse the one i think would have been worth the most that i had was a 87-8 gt performer just by looking at ebay prices.

i had these back in the ealy 90s to mid 90s

2 diamond back silver streaks
1 diamond back super streak
1 diamond back viper
1 diamond back team titanium

gt performer
dyno vfr
gt vertigo.

that 20" titanium diamond back is the only 20" i have ever seen, when i got my pontiac in high school i toted it around in the trunk, eventually there was a kid whos sister i knew who really wanted it, and tho i couldnt part with it for free, i told'em come up with 20 bucks and its yours.......

my all time favorit coolest one was the performer, just because it had everything that could be had on it when i got it, but as far as bare bones bikes go, id say the diamond back titanium. my viper had graphite wheels that supposedly you could stick in freezer to straighten the bent areas if you landed wrong, from there you just tightend the spokes back up, someone stole that bike so i never got to try,

this thread really has me considering hunting a older redline, dyno or diamond back for my oldest son, they were just way to cool back then, he wont be getting a performer tho, not with them prices

I've got an '85 JMC Shadow Frame, Fork and Bar set that I need to have rechromed. The bike was stolen at one time and luckily I recovered it from a local pawn shop. The thief took a razor blade to the stickers and scratched the heck out the the frame head.

Bikes from the 80's are "Old School?" This tread makes me wonder if I'm older than I think I am. Learned to ride on a hand me down 1936 Hawthorne complete with headlight, tail lights, horn and locking column (which I still have) and was really excited when I got a new Huffy Eldorado in the early sixties, (Which I also still have.)

Parting out sometimes is easier to do and can get you more total money??

I might be interested in the Hutch Hubs and Pedals. If can take pictures - post them here or email me direct.

My first PK dated to around 77-78, was a blue one with gold anodized parts, stolen off our trailer at a war of the stars race down in SC about 1 month after I got it. This one was black/gold, 78-79, within 6 months the black had chipped off so much that I decided to strip it. Raced it the way it's shown (a lot of the original parts long bent n replaced multiple times) and this is the way she sits in the basement today. air shot is from around 82-83 jumping in a quarry up in Maine.

I built my son an old school MCS Mantis last year. Vintage 1987

I also built a Free Agent 24" cruiser for myself to chase him around. I'll try to get some pics of the Mantis up tomorrow.
