The valley cover looks gook- built it yourself?

Oops- I see now that you said "cast". Who cast it?

Thanks for the comments, the valley pan is from All Pontiac.com part #AP-CAVP. Its a nice part but the casting is very rough. I haven't checked to see how it fits yet because my heads are still off the engine.

I had Tony @ Mirror Finish Polishing do my CV-1 stuff. Very nice work. Your stuff looks GREAT and once it's assembled, you'll have a "jewel" that you can be very proud of. That being said.....for what it costs for them to get polished.....The timeframe is of no importance. It would take more than a month of Sundays to do it yourself! (And that wouldn't include clean up time)
Can't wait to see it all put together!

Bnick166 I agree 100%, Tony did a great job and I couldn't have done it at home. I know because I tried - spent hundreds of dollars on polishing equipment and gave up after wasting a Saturday and getting nowhere. One question, what do you do with your CV1 to keep it clean and shiny?

What someone need to build (AP ,KRE ?) is a special timing chain and front cover assembly so we could run the next size up damper, be it Chevy or Ford so guy who want to run a roots blower on a Pontiac can do it and not worry about the crank snout snapping off.
It would require a custom billet crank. But if the special chain, sprocket and cover was made it would be off the shelf dampers and a custom billet crank.
No front crank support needed and a nice thick snout.

Blown 69.......
As much as I hate to say it......
Thus far I've just left them in the boxes that Tony put them in packed in plastic......
I looked at them the other day.....still nice and shiny!
I've halted the build again (hopefully not for very long). seems I strained or torn an abdomen muscle @ work.
I'm back light duty for 3 weeks.
VERY painful.
I'd have bet a testicle that it was a hernia!1 It that painfull! (testing says it not though)
Waiting to see if it heals and I'm good to go back to work regular duty.
Frightens me to think what will happen if it doesn't heal!!
I've looked into special aluminum coatings and all seem to fail when heated to operating temps. I think maybe the only logical approach is to use one of those foam polishing buffs touted for polishing wheels and a little Mothers or something of the sorts. We'll hafta keep after them once or twice a year and not let it get to far ahead of us. I spoke to a local chrome shop owner. He said that once they are polished very good....thay are less apt to oxidize rapidly. That's why I decided to have a professional do it. Another friend of mine has a blown jet boat. major polished stuff. HE claims that it'll grow Fuzz on it in short order. Guess you'll have to let me know what to do. It'll be late October or early November at the earliest before I can resume my plans to take my stuff to BES for assembly and dyno time.

It's been a looooong time, but you are in the home strech now...The heads look absolutely stunning.

By the way, I would really appriciate it if you would hurry up and get that thing fired. The suspense is killing me!!

It's going into my pro street 69 Firebird. It will be a Trans Am clone car, blue with white stripes.

I finally got around to putting my heads back together after cosmetic polishing. I also started test fitting my head studs. I plan on installing my heads this week. Then I can get my pushrod length figured out.

How much dish on those pistons and what are you running for compression when you're done? Still working out how to do my 433 with a 671. BTW, the motor and the car are looking awesome!

Misterp266, I'm not sure what dish my pistons are but compression will be 8.2 to 1. The pistons are Ross blower pistons and my E-heads are 87cc.
