I think it will be some time before the public will get them. I spoke to the man making them. They will be thoroughly tested before we get our hands on them.
I foresee next year or so to be honest,(my opinion) if they have to make changes. Im just concerned of the materials if its NOT a high nickle I dont think they will be any good. MY op again. Im going to nationals in NJ maybe he will be there & a sample

Has anyone heard anything from Jim Hackworth on these heads?

I've seen a couple sets of painted aluminum E-heads with 614 and 722 on them last couple years, so it's already been done.

Besides, if you need good replacements for your car, wont have to get a 2nd morgage and wait 2 years for them to surface.

Last I heard a few months ago, there had been no new news for the 6 months before that. Evidently, they're dead in production back in Asia. No proto has been yielded as of yet or so I understood--and I don't think there has been any update regarding an ETA yet either.

I talked to Jim's son at spring Charlotte and he said they ran in to some problems. Don't know if they were legal, monetary or mechanical, but I got a feeling it was pretty serious though.

Did you notice they said they might do the 455 SD block also?

In the auction pics, one can spot the paired rocker boss at the end of the head... this is the style casting used by GM foundry on heads produced after Nov 15, 1970... late style (externally dated) 197's & Service Replacement 614's. With the repro vendor going to so much trouble, one would think they would offer in the casting style that original RAIV heads were cast!

That said, there is also a market for an 85-87cc chamber 197, 7F6, SD head.
Pontiac originally planned a 10.25-1 C/R roundport 455. It was planned for '71 Judge & T/A intro & was cancelled in Feb of '70. For many of us, instead of buying used 197's that have already been cut &/or buying Ross custom small dome pistons, an 85-87 cc chamber 197-7F6-16 head would be a seller. Prob the only bare cast iron repro heads I'd personally pay $2400 a pair for.

I'm not positive what the style used was, but there were two heads sent off for patterning. One was an original NOS type and the other was a cracked used head that came out of either Florida or Texas from a machine shop. One or maybe both were sliced into 1/8th" sections to make the profiles for molds.

Expect some 'news' on the heads some time this spring.
A D port can be redone too.

that if GM changed the casting, it might be to correct a problem? The thought crossed my mind. I have no info to support my conjecture, but having worked for GM, I do understand something of how they operate. JMHO. It would not be prudent to repop a flawed design, in my book. Ron
