My first car was a 71 LeMans and I remember it as blue with a white top and blue interior but at the time - didn't have a clue as to what the "official" color was. Years later as I began looking for a 71 GTO - I learned the colors and decided mine had been Lucerne Blue. Then I found this old photo and think now that it was most likely Adriatic Blue. They are close - but the Adiratic has more silver in it.

Man, BJ, you were rockin' the velvet tux complete with the over-sized velvet bow tie! COOL!
Seriously though, that pic is so faded that it's hard to tell, but if you recall that color being more of a silvery blue then it was definitely Adriatic Blue. My Dad had an Adriatic Blue '72 Grand Ville back then so I recall the color well.

In that other thread Chris Wicker (Wick) mentioned that Paul Dorton said that the silver T/A he saw had the "- -" for the cowl tag paint code. Different cars then, fo' sho'. LOVE this thread, BTW.

That would be interesting, I would like to hear the story again. Do you think Roger would remember him?

Is this a mistake by the selling dealer or is there another 72 Adriatic blue TA out there? It looks like lucy blue to me.
http://www.flemingsultimategarage.co...ho--c-1541.htm Edit: The ad lists exterior color as Adriatic Blue but the body of the ad says it is lucerne blue. I'm sure its lucerne blue.

Now . . . this pic looks for all the world like Adriatic Blue, to me.
However, being that it's a 1970 RA IV car owned by Mark Weymouth, I'm sure it's just the lighting and camera flash . . .

Wow - beautiful car! Lloyd - I'm with you as it sure looks to be Adriatic Blue but it must be the lighting. Was it an auto or stick car?

Lloyd,
Dan restored mark's RAIV TA a few years ago and it is completely numbers matching and an M-21 car. DJ |

And please - I hope that Mark (and Dan) don't take my comment about the paint color the wrong way. It's just that in THAT particular shot the color appears to be a dead wringer for Adriatic Blue.

I thought I would refresh this thread.... and let everyone know that I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to take the keys on this unbelievable car and restore her to her former glory. This is a car that I (as well as probably many others here) have watched, wanted and coveted for many years. Since I had a ‘72 Lucy 4spd up at Steve’s being restored, it gave me a chance to not only see this car, but also talk to Steve on many different levels about the car, what would be best for her, and finally, how I could acquire the car. One deal point that Steve required is that he got to complete the restoration. This aspect of the deal turned out to be equally important to me, and was one of many areas we agreed on that made this deal come together.
Adrian, as she is now affectionately named will be undergoing a concour restoration, receiving the same born with Adriatic Blue Code 24 paint and white deluxe interior with the unique blue trim as indicated in the build sheet and presented in original photographs from the day. Everything black on a white interior will be blue. This will include a blue dash pad, steering column, kick panels, console, carpet and rear package tray. Steve was fortunate enough to salvage just enough of the build sheet to recognize the hand written notes made on build sheet which coincide with the SCO 72-167 Special Car Order note indicated on the PHS. We are targeting completion to show at the 2014 POCI. There is still more history to share about this special car and I will provide information on the history and progress updates as the restoration continues!
