Very nice work! Where did you get the carbon fiber dash insert? What are the lights in the upper right hand panel for?

OK, not much happening, as I'm too busy with work. I got back from a job on Thursday and now heading off tonight to Japan for a week or so, and do a job there. Oil and Gas, you got to love it.

Just a small update on the wagon.......I've sent the Dash and arm rests off to be recovered (vacuum formed), and ordered 4 of 255 x 15 - 60 bridgestone Radial T/As. Carpet (saddle) is on the way as well.

I've also bought a RAIV system from Ames, as well as rear guards. Bit of welding to be done.

At the moment I'm concentrating on the 455 for my '76 T/A, which is undergoing a full rebuild. Y4 2 bolt mains.......H beams, and forged pistons, Canton pan and accesories, XE268 cam 1.65 magnum rockers, E-Brock heads, Manifold and Headman headers.....she's gunna fly!

Well the assembly has started, but it's going to be slow, as I don't want to wreck it now after waiting so long. It took 3 months for the Dash to be re-covered, I finally got it back today.

In the mean time the tyres have arrived, as well as the carpet...things are looking up.

Here are a few pics of the Dash and the arm rests, now all recovered and ready to go back into the wagon. The whole lot compliments the new carpet.

I still have to wash down the A/C parts that sit below the dash and then connect everything up.

Classic & Custom Interior Restoration, they are motor body trimmers situated in Kelmscott, Western Australia. They mainly work with '70's Fords and Holdens.
Apparently working on the Pontiac dash was a PITA, and they are not likely to do another any time soon.

So far everything fits just fine, and will know more later today when I mount it in the car.

Boy, sure is hot today....40 C

I've installed the Dash Board, the Instrument Panel, and started on connecting all the wiring harnesses. If you look closely you can see the big chome bezelon the panel below the gauges......That's where the Right Hand Remote Mirror control will sit. I've also decided the Panel is at this stage too nice to put a wireless in, so keeping it blank.

Sorry it's too hot to do any more, so might have a few Turkeys and sit on the milk crate and dream.

Wooops I just blew up one of the mufflers.....engine starts, but wont run on. Heavy petrol smell. Must be something wrong with the wiring. I think I'll pull out the Torque Converter Lockup, and go back to the original wiring.

Strange.

Now I do have a problem with Frogs, they get into every knook and cranny, even blocking the water pipe on the house A/C.

But how many frogs does it take to block off 2.5" exhaust?

Maybe a timing chain issue. Looks like the muffler is buldged outward.

Not sure what is going on, maybe a wire earthing out. With all the dash unplugged, the car started first kick. Now won't start at all. Nice big "Bang!" it made. LOL.

I haven't played with the timing, nor made any adjustments to the engine apart from the Oil sender switch, and Oil Filter.

I forgot to post these photos, and an update.

Still a long way to go.....but the dash is finished, nearly.....When I had all the wires loose, It would start first kick. Once all the wires were connected it wouldn't start, no ignition. Funny, first the fuel line started leaking, so replaced that, then noticed an oil patch under the filter, so tightened that and the Oil sender unit. Then crawling under that dash, I noticed a loose earth wire, which is connected what appears to be a torque converter locker, and all the wiring is routed back to through the coil. I'll need to look into that a little more.

Anyway here is the finished product.

Strange...must be because I'm in Japan that the pics will not load. FIXED

Sounds like the timing chain and gear took a dump.

Does this car have a factory right hand remote mirror?

I don't think it's the timing or the gear. More likely the points or a dodgey coil.

It doesn't have a factory RH remote, but I do have a pair of remotes, which I will be installing when the panel work starts.

White coil wire was arcing out against the black negative wire at startup. Fixed that, and now have fully operational Tach.

Last weekend was a quite disappointing weekend, stuff had not gone well. Long story short, knocked two teeth of my T/A flex plate on Saturday as I was about to leave for a drive around town.....On Friday night it worked perfectly, and I thought I had the run-on problem licked.....Octane Booster. One of the Torque Converter bolts had backed out and stopped the flex plate from rotating, hence the starter stripped the ring gear.

So I put the old girl in the shed, on stands, while I played with the Camaro, trying to get it to start......for a while.....(I hate You! Camaro!)....and then got stuck into the station wagon.

I did a little more welding on the wheel well.

I put the seats back in, so I can drive her to the upholsterers.

Oh I forgot to post that I I installed new carpet the weekend before last....only surface rust found.

New carpet going in......

Then I had a brain fart, and thought "since the T/A is back in Hospital", I'll pull the wheels and see what they look like on the Station Wagon.

Nice! The Camaro is getting some love in the background (battery recharge)....don't know why I bother.

I'm going to send the WS6 wheels out to get polished and painted within the next couple of weeks, but not sure of the colour at this stage....Gold like the WS4 wheels or Gun Metal Grey.

I'm liking the look of the Gold wheels, but thinking I might go the grey, and then get decals made to match... not sure.

On Tuesday I took her for a drive, with a plan to go to the exhaust shop. but she would not shift into 3rd gear. So I had to go home and do a bit of problem solving.....my kick down switch was stuck on, so I pulled the plug, and then I got gears. Sadly I had run out of time to deliver the car to the shop, so she'll have to wait for the next opportunity.
