I guess it comes to down to 2 camps: somewhat rare but drives the wheels off on the street, or super rare that gets driven slightly more than on/off the trailer.

I drive a '73 wagon multiple days a week unless they've salted the roads.
For sure you don't see them much anymore. I get people seeking me out on the internet to tell me they saw me driving it and thought it was cool. Sure, it was not rare when new and never will be valuable, but I've never seen another in the wild. Even at Norwalk there wasn't more than 1 that I know of... I'd say anyone who drives a 40+ year old car at all is going to have one of the rarest cars out there. |

Me, nothing really rare. ...but my little old lady neighbor has a 63 tempest wagon with some checkered flag emblems on the fenders. Haven't looked at it close but it moves pretty good

Not a Pontiac but I used to have my 58 Delray Utility Sedan as my only car. The utility sedan is the regular car without the back seat and the windows in the back dont go down. It just has a little shelf for packages for like a traveling salesman. Was my only car for 4 years.

I was out for a cruise the other day in this one with two of my brothers... This is an older photo - taken the last time my dad saw the car. Since then we have located some correct 16" wheels and gone with the correct 4" wide white walls. It's 59 years old, 1949 Cadillac Series 75 7 Passenger Imperial limousine that our father bought in 1958. It's one of 626 7533X models built in 1949. In my life, I have only seen 1 other one in person. My brothers and I flew my dad out to Vegas to see that other car auctioned off... |

Not old but rare. My '99 WS6 Formula that I bought new, has about 60,000 miles on it now. It's one of 175 total built regardless of options.

Key word to the question that started this thread is "driven" I challenge all fellow Pontiac lovers to drive their cars not treat them like a stamp or coin ect
I once had a US border guard ask me what I was doing? when I drove a 74 SD up to his window to get inspected. My answer was I could die tomorrow Its great if you have a rare car but remember how great theses cars were when new and drive them like they were built to be driven Don't let Pontiac be forgotten or only remembered by people seeing a Wave or Aztec on the road |

[ATTA Tom S. aluminum motor
RAV exhaust manifolds CH][ATTACH 69 Black RAV JUDGE, yes like Tom S. V cars street driven, collected the rarest parts for years for this car. Started out with a black 69 Judge with parchment and a 4 speed, added 4.33 gears, NOS M22, Aluminum V with correct carb, ignition, exhaust manifolds, wiring harness, idle stop, throttle bracket, coil etc, repo V balancer, repo deep groove pulleys, repo Christmas Tree tach, VOE exhaust and much more, fun to drive!! I tried to imagine a car John D. could have put together if he had stayed at Pontiac instead of going to Chevy from what the engineering department was working on. What implies RARE? My vote would also be the TENNY/WANGERS 64 GTO.
Now my 64 GTO Convertible is NOT the rarest Pontiac, just a GTO with a "different experience" in its life. I mention this because "The Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin Passed away recently. She sang in the TV commercial that my 64 GTO Convertible was featured in many years ago for Crowleys: A Detroit Department Store Chain. The company ceased operation in 1999. So we are talking in the early 1980s. The car was 20 years old even in 1984. I still have a VCR copy of the Commercial that plays perfectly on a smaller VCR machine. My car was selected vs 17 other Pontiac Convertibles (according to the Commercial Guy who was selecting the car for the commercial). There was also a 1967 427 435HP Corvette, a more modern Cadillac Convertible, and a "American Graffiti" type "Drive-In" featured in the commercial. It was a lot of fun to watch how they filmed the commercial and that experience later helped me to be selected as a Tech Advisor for a Super Bowl Commercial years later. Just experiences and RARE Moments (One including my 64 GTO Convertible). Anyone else have their car in a Commercial? More of a Rare Event vs a Rare Car. I had to DRIVE the car to three different locations for the filming, almost ran out of gas and I started with a full tank. It was a Gas Hog (with the Wangers rear under the car). Tom V.

Country Roads, Parked Cars that move up and down, Steamy windows, Gymnastics at times, lucky I am still alive. Some of those Farmers were mean-spirited people for the right reasons.

My rare "Pontiac" moments - involving the 2001 GTOAA/POCI Co-vention... 2001 Jim Wangers All Pontiac Drags at Rock Falls Raceway. The chairman of the event calls me up (I was his assistant) with his great idea for the national anthem to kick start the event. He wanted to get a red, white and a blue convertible to line up at the end of the strip. Arnie Beswick would be in the white convertible carrying the American flag. At the start of the anthem, all 3 would head out slowly towards the Christmas tree. Upon arrival at the tree (timed to be right at the end of the anthem), Arnie would get out of the white convertible and grab a green flag and wave it. Two open headered cars would be staged and waiting to do their burnouts when Arnie gave them the green flag. I asked Bill if he remembered what color my '64 GTO was... Yes, I was Arnie's chauffeur for that special "run"... I think my car is "one of one".... That was a neat experience. The whole 2001 experience over 10 days was pretty cool. I spent 10 days with Arnie - first at the Iola Old Car show (one of the top 10 shows in the country) where my '64 was under the feature car tent representing the original Muscle Car (75th anniversary of Pontiac). Arnie and I were staying at the same hotel. Left there and went to the GTO Nationals where I placed in the '64/64 GTO class. Immediately after the banquet, I led a caravan of drag racers to Rock Falls Raceway. Had the unique opportunity listed above. Left there and went to the POCI Nationals. Sat with Arnie at the POCI awards banquet. Arnie was the first person to congratulate me when I took 1st place in the '64 GTO Stock category. After walking off the stage, Linda Vaughn was the first person to congratulate me - and she even remembered to call me by my nickname (we had met earlier in the day). My GTO was the ONLY car in the country to be on the showfield at the Iola Old Car Show, the GTOAA Convention, the POCI convention and on the strip (including the right direction) at the Jim Wangers All Pontiac Drags (Arnie was at all 4 - but never unloaded at the GTOAA Nationals). Good times! |
