Looks like George was making a suggestion that would help with head gasket issues... less movement with a solid head vs a water head... you would know that if you were actually involved in a race car in the last half century....

Scott,
It must be nice to have deep pockets and be able to just throw money at every problem. Stan

No new heads, George. Hopefully, we can weld them up and move on. There's already more weld than head, anyway. Besides, I like having the fastest combo using the oldest Pontiac aftermarket head (not counting Mickey Thompson heads). They are already dry-decked and I run water only in the heads and not in the block. Paul Carter is a great engine builder and I trust we'll get it sorted. I run two solenoids---Ford type in the passenger compartment to route power to the All Pontiac starter. I'm not sure which solenoid is acting up. I hate intermittent electrical problems. I'll definitely replace the Ford solenoid and see if the starter needs work or replacement. The All Pontiac starter has done yeoman work, starting the engine when it was NA and since I added a blower with no issues until now--over ten years. Jim

Maybe some different rims for the rear to get a 275/60/15 back under the car , some mods to the frt stab bar bushings to give the frt end some more travel and some control arm bushing work too....that's the plan anyway

One of us is doing better on the diet plans than the other.. Not saying who .. The goal is not only to balance out the front to back weight a little better, but to have the bumper and lower pan quickly removable with 1/4 fasteners. The car sits so low, loading and unloading and strapping it down are a real pain. I have to drive it up on a couple of stacked 2x8's to be able to get underneath the front to loop the axle straps in.

Also planning on welding in a Anti Roll Bar and hopefully a fresh but still slow bullet in the spring. I dont want to be too optimistic, but it would be nice to finally get the hood painted too HAHA

Swap out the 3/16 steel half mid-plate with a 1/4 7075 aluminum.
Engine tear-down will determine what's needed beyond the 2 cylinders which are down on cranking compression we're been running with. Transmission is back out after swapping the case, forward gears were not working properly. During the tear down today we found a cracked forward clutch piston.

Last winter was EFI and ignition system. I had plans this winter to sort out the AC I pulled out mid-eighties. Argh, at the end of this season my previously excellent running 462 started some super serious oil consumption and smoke spewing that verrry quickly worsened, so this winter’s project will be fixing things to get to where I was last winter. Sucks. But, next spring will be a blast again!!!
