Default anything but ford

This is the only non-GM car that I've even looked at. I love the styling.

Boss 9 is way high up on my list as well. The 302 may be a funner car to drive, but there's just something very sinister about the 9 with the huge hood scoop and sans wing, slats, etc.

The engine is a thing of beauty to look at, too.

To my knowledge the only Mustang to come with a Qjet would be the 71 429CJ Mustangs. SCJ's got a Holley. Now after 65 I believe Ford switched from the Autolite 4100 to the Autolite 4300 which was a spread bore like the Qjet.

In 1968-70, I believe the CJ had a Holley. That probably includes SCJs too.

In 1971, the CJ used the Quad and the SCJ used a Holley.

I love when the Mopar guys go on about their "shaker" cars. I'm sitting back thinking, "yeah Ford had those in 69" lol. I really do like Mopars, even though I give them a hard time occasionally. My best friend is a Mopar fanatic and it's always interesting seeing what all he's working on. I like all makes except Chevrolet. Those bore me into oblivion. My first love is Fords/Mercs, then a close tie between Mopars and Pontiacs. Would not kick an AMC, Buick, or Olds out of the garage either. In my opinion the Pontiac crowd seems a lot more level headed than Mopar guys, that's why I like to hang out here even though I mostly just read. That and I miss my GTO :/ Shoulda kept that one.

Just found this, I may be wrong about the year of this guys car, Im not a Ford guy, but it could be a 429 too , anyways>>>
QUOTE>> "Ford purists cringe whenever this subject comes up, but Ford did indeed install the GM Rochester Quadrajet on the 429 V-8 in '70-'71. General Motors introduced the Quadrajet in 1965, which made these vehicles legendary for their throaty bellow whenever the accelerator was mashed. The Quadrajet was the auto industry's first spread-bore design and, properly tuned, it is an excellent carburetor. "Spread Bore" means huge secondary bores with small primaries for improved fuel economy. The Quadrajet has an air valve secondary system just like the 4300 and 4300D. It is also the same 715cfm size as a 4300D.

My favorite "other" brand from a styling standpoint would be Mopar. I love the Challengers, Chargers, Cudas, GTX's, Coronets, etc.

Ford never impressed me much. Yes, the Mustang had some awesome versions, and I like the Fairlane, but not much else had the "wow" factor for me.

But I am a loyal GM guy, and if it wasn't a Pontiac, it would be one of the other divisions, even Chevy. I prefer Olds and Buick first, but Chevy made some greats too.

I'm pretty sure if Dad had stayed with Ford there'd be one of these sitting in my garage rather than the GTO:

And the conclusion of this thread is that Pontiac guys like Ford Mustang race cars. And GM tried to compete, but did a half assed job.

I agree. Problem with the Mustang, although these models may have some nice styling, is the cars themselves always felt flimsy when you were driving them. Unitized construction, door rattles, banging suspensions, flimsy automatic shifters, dash pads that curled up and blocked the windsheild, overall, not pleasant cars to live with IMO. This is just my personal preference. The body on frame GM cars were always my favorite. Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles being my absolute favorite. That being said, if I were ever to drive a Ford vehicle, I would go to the (also body on frame) Galaxie 500. A Mercury Maurauder would be another one.

"Sinister" is the perfect word for the black Boss 9s . Any other color just doesnt compare . A friend of mine has a black one here locally . Just a very mean looking car with a powerful engine .

I never understood the logic behind the Ford steering wheel that was so common on many of its cars. Like that's going to help me from flying through the wind shield....

I am a Pontiac fanatic but i must own a 69 Mustang Mach1 one day. To me one of the best looking cars ever built. I think there is nothing wrong with having respect for other brands too.

I wouldn't mind owning a Torino Talladega or a SCJ some day.

Thumbs up Make mine a Boss of Any Color or Engine - My Favorite Here

IIRC: A couple of guys named Knudsen and Yunick didn't seem to have any problem migrating from Pontiac to Ford. Simply beautiful.
