I looked at a 70 Bird sheet and didn't see that option.
But probably most that are out there are revised later editions.
Need to find one that was 1st edition possibly?

Justin, you have a pic of the rear of the car?

The B79 code was used for '69 Chevelles too. Stood for exterior rear end ornamentation. Could be the 400 emblem or a steel tail panel. I don't know. This build sheet doesn't call out the badge number anywhere I can see.

Do you know what did B79 provided on a ‘69 Chevelle? I doubt on a ‘70 Firebird that ornamentation would have been the tail panel. Seems like a stretch.

I agree on the stretch - with metal tail panel.

But Justin has a rear view pic that doesn't expose a 400 emblem - or anything other than the bird in center. In his opinion.

So i just put it on the table.

Did the metal tail panels have PONTIAC on them like the Fglass versions ?

B79 could have been an "operation code" - as another possibility.
We have encountered codes like that before.
But it ended quickly - if so .

Ransom , how many days into production do you suppose VIN 100408 was ?
And also VIN 100961

Not holding you to stone carved accuracy - btw

Just in case others don't have this one on file - for reference
70 Formula Van Nuys = VIN = 226870L100961

Less than 600 cars away from Justin's Parents.

Now - with closer inspection - now i can sort of make out the planned/projected build date on it as being Feb 06
Feb 0x something anyway.

Folks keep in mind these dates are systematic approximations at the time the sheet was printed.
Not necessarily THE EXACT DATE the car was ultimately built.

PHS on that one shows 2-19-1970

Wonder what Justin's is?
(his date on build sheet is 1/27, about ten days earlier than build sheet above)

I think around 1-19-70 was the first '70 production bodies being produced.

I know he doesn't have the PHS, but I wonder what it would show?

Would there be a 'Change Alert' or a CMD on it?
(to drop the emblem if it was in fact that)

Or would it show what the B79 was?

OK, looked at some more PHS'

Here is one from Boss' Formula:
(L100361 VIN!)

Notice the CMD 215664

The PHS from the buildsheet BVZ posted:

CMD 214092

And another a little later:

This has 'Change Alert' on it which my Formula had on it's PHS.
(mines Norwood though about same date as this one)

Thread from when the emblem was talked about:

We need to see the Buildsheet from that car The Boss had.
If he didn't fish it out of the car - we should probably clip a corner or an edge off his Man Card. just saying

I think he parted that one out ?
Or maybe he just pilphered the metal tail panel from it.

lord - years ago seems like almost every other post was a picture of his metal tail panel somewhere. here's a picture of it in the barn, here it is in the kitchen , here it is next to my new lawnmower .....
still praise the day he finally sold that damd thing.

luh ya Boss

Nope , the invoices just reflect things above base equipment.
The emblem would have been base/inclusive in W66 base cost.

If it was initially planned (emblem) - then canceled - the W66 cost still remained unchanged even on through later dates.
So it wasn't significant enough to alter pricing in either regard -
if that is what we're dealing with. (a 400 trunk emblem)

Same answer as above.

Those are both credit. memo. documents.
And both for #361 Posi Axles
Since there are no dollar figures included with them - there were no price adjustments back to the dealer. (or buyer)

So - Pontiac had to handle those by furnishing correct Posi Axle assemblies to be installed.
Maybe they got PegLeg axles by mistake - or even 10 bolt axles by mistake.
I'm sure PMD would have rather issued a refund instead.

Those particular credit memos were charged back to some capacity within PMD.
Covering the shipment - and installation labor cost allowed to dealer.
About like a warranty claim - per se'

Change Alert - usually means something involving dollars/cents about the original submitted order changed afterwards - usually on the dealership/customer end of the order. [drop an option - add an option]
Not normally the PMD side .

But it did pertain to something effecting dollars/cents in one way or another.
The Invoices are billing receipts first and foremost - focused around dollars/cents.

Thanks for the info BVZ.

I agree that we need the build sheet from the Boss.
