Question Chrysler's Bronze Blowtorch - the Turbine

Mike, is the photo (above) of a display at the Peterson Auto Museum in Los Angeles? Perhaps upstairs? It looks a lot like one of their display themes, such as shown below. http://www.tachrev.com/Petersen.htm

Chrysler's Bronze Blowtorch - the Turbine (above)
Imagine a Car that...
o Runs on almost any fuel including kerosene, heating oil, tequila, Chanel #5, and Peanut Oil.
o Has an engine that weighs about half as much as a conventional V-8, yet the 140 horsepower it delivers is equal in performance to a 200-hp piston engine.
o Is self-cooled by its own air so you never have to worry about filling the radiator (there isn't one).
o Has only one spark plug and only about 1/5 as many moving parts as conventional engines. Just think what that could mean in reduced maintenance, tune-up costs, and repair bills.
o Starts instantly, even in the coldest weather, and needs no warm up.

Only problem today would be melting the front of the car behind you. Of course if he/she is tailgating that close, maybe they deserve it. Car behind at a light would have to leave a bit more room in front of them.. Still think it would be a great car.

Alvin, that was a pic off the web. Not sure where it was taken. The 1963 Chrysler Turbine was a beautiful car in my opinion.

1964 L76 Chevelle, 327/365hp, with 7,000 rpm in-dash tach. Unknown as to how many were built, or even if they WERE built, before they were cancelled.

This was rare and unusual to me at the 2012 Mecum Houston Auction

Quote:

1971 Plymouth Road Runner 440 6 Pack w Air Grabber hood
See the August 2012 Hemmings Muscle Machines for their complete "Auction Action" descriptions. According to HMM's David Traver Adolphus about this one: "How does a 440-6 Road Runner sell for $26,000? By being, originally, a 383/300 w a vinyl roof." ..."You can't say it wasn't eye-grabbing, and Air Grabbing, for that matter."

'70 Olds Cutlass SX 455

Could be full size like the 427 4 speed, 4 door biscane or '68 Biscane 2 dr, 427's.
Thanks to Jack for starting this GR8 Thread!

Chevelles...I didn't know it was rare when I was a kid, but at the ripe old age of 17, I special ordered this 1969 Chevelle SS 396/375 4-spd...triple black, no power anything (didn't have the money) and it was shipped with a manual top, LMAO

...18 months later it had 80K miles, 2 engines, 2 trannys, several clutches, 5 sets of tires, wrecked a few times, repainted steel cities gray, drank oil, but it was nearly unbeatable on the streets...by 1972 it was in the junkyard, a friend spotted it crushed in a stack of cars

...due to the draft, I joined the USAF and never saw the car fixed and painted, just this pix from 1971

Default '55 Lincoln Futura Replica photos by Allard62

This from the A-Body website:

I got to snap a few photos of the only known Lincoln Futura Replica in existence Saturday. The Futura is the basis for the current #1 TV Batmobile which inspired my own replica.
Here's my closeup photos of some details dating back to the 80's quality. Sorry about the large file size:

silver 1969 Chevelle SS 300 post, 396/375 4-spd...friend of mine bought a new one in highschool.....I raced him a couple of times in my black SS convertible and could stay within a fender of the 300 SS...it had cheap taxi cab interior and plastic floor mats, no carpeting ...last time I saw the car, he was drunk, at the quarter car wash, both doors open and was washing the spilled beer and puke out of the interior with the spray wand...that Chevelle only lasted him a few weeks and it was rolled over several times, he bought a new 1969 Vette with the insurance money
