I wanted a touch of wood to break up the black interior....these riveted wood wheels have a nice feel to them, not slick and glossy like some others.

I'm 6'3", I have 1" of head room with the new foams fitted. The height is perfect. Stock seats mean my head is pushing on the headliner all the time. Vision line is terrific....right where it should be. The wheel diameter works great, too...no instrument is obscured at all.

Started on the door trims this afternoon, passenger side first.
Not finished, but you get the idea. I think they look pretty good. New OER repro door handles, Clayton Machine Works window handles and Fesler billet lock buttons with OER repro ferrules.

And heres the finished door trim.......

I didn't like the press on clips much....fiddly things and attempting to line them up going to be a pain....plus theres no clip mount around the speaker enclosure area, where it needs to be solid to the door. So, I used some small sheet metal screws and trim clip covers to neaten it up, only needed 4 screws. The weight of the panel is taken on the glass guides at the top, and the panel is pretty much retained on the door by the inside door handle. I used UHB (ultra High Bond) double sided tape strips to retain the insert onto the panel, but its also clamped by the fitting of the inner handle. I also had to trim some of the rubber seal at the top/rear of the door so the panel would sit far enough forward.
Its a bit tight closing the door now, I think the new seals need to squash a little more to take up the thickness of the panel.

Looks sweet! wow! Yeah trimming the seal, been there.. I wasnt too pleased about it, but no choice, so the panel sits right..I think the factory maybe should have moulded in some speaker enclosures, back in 71.. What a Ride Leigh!

And the driver's side door trim is finished.

Still waiting on the darn motor trimmer to finish my rear seat.

Leigh, are the door panel a hard plastic? I like how the speaker mounts in them.

I have fitted the ones PY sells, and seemed to fit similar.. hard plastic, reminds me of our Solstice panels. Look great though in a modified car..

Had the mobile auto electrician who did my alarm come out today and fault find why theres no horn. Turns out the wiring harness, which I thought had a horn relay in it, didn't....so all the power for the air horn compressor was running through the column switch....which fried the little springs in the top of the column and they lost their tension.
One new spring, a reset of the other spring and a relay later....I have a nice loud horn! Cool!

The rest of my day was spent making fascia panels for the centre console.

Template time....

The upper panel with the two instruments in the Autometer angle gauge mounts.

Epoxy etch primed.....thats it for the day, it came over wet and really humid...can't spray anymore.

I cut a 2nd set of these panels that I'll be sending to Randy Combes to have engine turned, like a T/A dash....something for next year, when I'm on holidays.
This set will be painted satin black.

As suspected, you angled the gauges toward the driver, Nice job!, so many would just have plopped them in for good looks and lack of function ( GM among others!)

Yeah, being able to see them without parallax error is nice.

Movement on my rear seats....guy turned up this afternoon to test fit the modified rear seat.....they're going to be done in a similar style to the front seats (Corvette).

They're mostly foamed (still some bolstering to do), then he has to make the patterns for the covers, then the covers themselves. I'm hoping early next week now.
