The 68 GTO has a Sanden replacement for the A6 compressor. The owner/shop did a great job camouflaging it.

68 Judge clones are just plain dumb. I can't believe people would waste the time and money to ruin a car like that.

1942 Pontiac Streamliner Straight 8 at $20K NR in Texas. Ad states the car was only made for 2 months due to the war. Cool factor on this one is off the charts.

Love that 42! I didn't realize the streamliner fastback was introduced that early.

75 Formula 400 in Washington at $12.5K BIN. Car has some light rust and looks stock. Originally white with 110K miles. Nicely optioned with my favorite horse-collar seats.

Let's talk restomod, but in reverse. You start with a restomod and work backwards. In the end, is the investment worth it? Are you building it as a keeper, intending to never sell it? I love the guts it takes to go through with your dream, rather than someone else's dream. 1968 Pontiac Firebird restomod frame off at $78K BIN OBO in Texas. Frame off is a lot of work. This car must have taken a long time to finish, because a lot of what made this type of restomod cool, was very 80's period specific. Wide tires, Chevy 383 stroker and a custom interior. I know some of you disagree, and that's fine, but for me, and I speak only for me, when I see things like chrome hood springs, I cringe; what a waste of money. Have I ever owned a show car, where stuff like that matters? No. That 69 green GTO had a chrome alternator? Why? I digress... The interior on this car is not to my taste. It's very 80's/90's and the baddest thing to do back then. Remember, a lot of these cars started out as real 400's. My first Pontiac in 1978 was a 70 GTO 455 4-speed Ram Air and I paid $1500 for it. It was just a car back then, and I did all kinds of bolt-on crap to it. I loved it, but that's what you do when you're 16 and doing burnouts. It's what you still think is cool when you're in your 20's, but after that, maybe it's not the look for you? In a nutshell, this car is very well done and the suspension looks good, though again, not to my taste. I would guess that there's $100K worth of work and parts in it. If you're on the fence, just remember that if you did this much work to a stock car, it would be worth more. /JMHO. If a one-off restomod is the look you want, this one is for you.

70 242 GTO in Pennsylvania at $38K BIN. The wing looks horrible. The Chevy wheels look good, but wrong; same for the 69 shifter. It's a nice car and worth the asking IMO. Ram Air exhaust tells me the engine was taken in the right direction. Rally gauges, in-dash tach an AM/FM are cool options.

That engine in the GTO is a very interesting one. Probably needs to be discussed in the 70 GTO section.
The partial VIN on engine is a Canada built A body VIN. The build date on the Granada Gold Baltimore GTO is the correct date for that engine also - 11B. ( along with the Canada VIN for that engine) If engine swapped what's chance of getting this in just about perfect order?

69 Firebird convertible in Illinois at $40K BIN. Must be an early build. There's a $16.85 line on the build sheet for head restraints. No interior pics, which is odd, but you can tell it's blue by the back seat.

I like the color but 30 seconds inside would cure that.

Pontiac was the last brand to stop civilian production for WW2, going 1 day farther than the next 2 brands. Last unit built ~ 02.10.42.

Wanted to revisit this 69 Firebird in Illinois at $47K BIN. The 17" Rally II reproductions look good on this car. I like the originals; probably because it's what I've seen my entire life. 99% of the public doesn't know these rims from Adam. I'm changing my mind about them. Still like the originals better, but if you get these, you don't have to worry about trim rings. I guess the real main reason is to get 17" tires, which really is better.

IMO that '69 would look a lot better if it was lowered an inch or so. Looks like a nice car, but limited pics to judge.
I'm so used to seeing 17s, 14s look weird to me now. I considered going with a red stripe on the rim of my YO RIIs, but after seeing that FB I'm glad I sprung for redlines. Another small tweak I did was to get factory style lug nuts vs. chrome acorns .I thought I'd be swapping between my 14s and 17s more often, but I put the 17s on and never looked back.
