On a Sun distributor machine? Sure, but I find typically that the instructions they come with along with the bushings and springs they supply do a pretty good job of following the graph they claim so you can get the distributor pretty much in the ball park and then verify with a good timing light. It's not that bad to do really. The vacuum advance is where I spend most of my time.
