I also have the 3.73 in my 65 LeMans and went with the .68 OD. Should be able to talk and actually hear people in the car a 70 mph now!.......

I ordered the "White Lightning" shifter upgrade from American Powertrain and love the shorter throws along with the spring loaded 1st-2nd and 5th-reverse. Should make the 2nd to 3rd shift much quicker and easier with the palm of your hand.

Would it make more sense (at least in my case) to do the swap at the same time I reinstall the engine and install the engine/trans as a unit?

I installed the TKX in my 65 GTO about a year ago - best upgrade I ever made to the it....

I put the TKO 5 speed in my 75 T/A and it worked well but a bit notchy.The one big issue I did not like about it was I lost the whine of going through the gears in a Muncie,which I think is part of the joy of street driving these cars.Just IMHO.
