Ohhhhhh my goodness David thoughts and prayers with you hoping Dr. #3 will be a charm and get you feeling better. Pain is such a distraction with everything we try to do.

Usually, a google search of anything medical will scare the crap out of you...so, I'd call that a good omen. Best wishes David and I hope they'll get you back to where you want to be.

My son has had 5 surgeries on his right shoulder. His first when he was 18, the last just over a year ago (he's now 26). Luckily, he has had no infections! But he went from being a 3-sport varsity athlete to barely able to lift a gallon of milk with the bad arm.

Good luck to you, hope it comes out as well as possible.

Surgery at 11am this morning. 1 stage reverse replacement “revision”. The removeable parts come out and are replaced with new, the grown in parts are “cleaned” and the whole internal area gets a wash/wax. Stitched back up. Doc said “at least” one night in the hospital. 6 weeks of picc line antibiotics at home.
No food since a bowl of Blue Bell vanilla about 8 last night.
I’d love a couple scrambled, bacon and toast.......

Here's to hoping that your 97 mph fastball still has the same 'bite' after the surgery and more importantly, prayers for a full recovery Dave...

Loooong day.
Finally in a room at 6:30. Surgery ran a little long, no smoking gun found. I have no idea what they replaced but he increased the size of one of the parts. The infectious diseases doc comes in the morning and we’ll see where that part of the equation stands. They’ll also install a picc line tomorrow. Looks like at least Thursday and maybe Friday before I can get out of here.
I got the car out both Sunday and Monday and did a total of 150+ miles and it ran soooo good. Can’t wait to get back in it.
GREAT therapy.

Feel better David! Bone and joint issues can be very complicated and frustrating to figure out, especially the pain management aspect of it but I’m sure your Dr.’s will get you back in that GTO seat before you know it As far as the pic line I had two, and mine were a problem, getting clogged and moving in my chest. Mike would flush it daily but it was irritating. Mine was in my chest right under my right shoulder blade the good thing about it was when it did work, I didn’t have to get stuck for blood work or meds and IV fluids. And I had to put a clear square sticky back patch over it to shower to keep it dry. If they send you home with the line in ask them for some of those patches. Hang in there and stay strong!

Thanks MA. I had a pic line with last years shoulder surgery and they offered no option for showering. Getting cleaned up was a chore and I was glad to see it go after 17 days. It was installed in my left arm (elbow) and ran around close to the heart somewhere at the base of my neck. IF I get one this time I’ll be sure to ask about those patches. Surgery was Tuesday and at this time getting out of the hospital seems to be hinging on whether the surgery team wins and I get the pic line (for 6 WEEKS) or the infectious disease team wins and I get oral antibiotics. I’ll take whichever one keeps me from having shoulder surgery number 5.
