I'm from south Louisiana. It's not the heat, it's the stupidity. Present company excepted, of course. Never been to Eunice, but I've been to Fred's lounge in Mamou
The cam we put in is an Ultradyne 223/231. The car is a 4-spd, and we could have gone one step larger, but it's what we had on hand and makes for an excellent pure 455 daily driver.

That Ultradyne Cams .485" Exh lift is far too much for the stock installed height on 4X heads , this ihas likely something to do with the issue your dealing with!

The heads have aftermarket valve springs and Ferrea valves set up to handle .500" lift.
