I would find another head. Another long block would be even better.

If you insist on cast iron and want to keep it on the evil side I've get a set of 13s sitting here.

That's just another way of saying "what are you talking about?" because it was so far off topic, I wondered if you were replying to a different post and were confused. Perhaps you could explain your comment to Bernierlta about the link you displayed and it leading to some Rapper? your reply of "until you run me, we'll talk about it" does not make any sense on the topic being discussed of "cylinder head damage". There was no off color language, just what you inferred it to be.

That looks like an easy repair. But why repair them. They have seen better days and near the end of life, nothing several hundred dollars wont fix. Surfacing, new valves, guides, etc. I would doubt they are cracked, not from the damage anyhow.

It may have originated from the Distributor as the round neck that seats against the block was only half there. I noticed that later on..

I pretty much scraped the block, and went with an old 1970 Pontiac 350 engine I picked up for $125 bucks. The heads I thought if savable I could use again once I find a decent 400 or 455 in my price range. Heck even considering an olds 403 again. :-)

So do you think it was sucked through the carburetor? I don't know how that could have happened. I get that you are just trying to get your car back on the road for as little as possible. If funds are tight you could just clean and inspect the heads yourself. Lap the valves, install new seals, use some fel-pro perma torque gaskets and see what happens. No it's not correct but it may work.

Screw out of the bottom of the carb in conjunction with an aftermarket or modified intake manifold??
The cylinder head is the easy part. That piston will not due. May be a tweaked connecting rod.

X2! That piston is toast. The ring lands will be caved in, pinching up the rings. Then the rings will never seal.

He has just picked up a 350 for $125, and scrapped the block in the pictures. The head is his issue.

Thanks, I actually sold the rods/caps for $45 and told the buyer to junk the pistons and rings.
