Today I made some more progress. I finally got the mounting issues worked out with the hydroboost and its not installed along with the master cylinder. I used a hydroboost unit from an Astro van and a master cylinder for a power brake 67 corvette. I bout a mounting block from tallon hydraulics and I had to make a pin to fit the back of the master to take up the space for the pushrod from the booster. With some help from John (purplepackfan) I bought some ac delco power steering pressure hoses for a gm appearing setup. The ends that meet the steering gear and pump have to be changed so I will do that this week.

I also started putting my wiring harness in today. I decided to use the American Autowire classic update series. If you are looking for a plug and play kit with minimal work, this is not for you. However my car needed all new wiring from front to back and this was a well priced kit. Since the fuse box is designed for 68+ cars, I had to open my fuse box hole up a little bit. I used their template but it is a little confusing and there really isn't room to open the hole up either left or right (looking at the hole from the engine bay) the template opens the hole up about 3/4" but I was really only able to cut 5/8" without cutting into existing holes for wires to pass through. So to make the hole large enough I cut the extra 1/8" to the left. Once I bolted the fuse box in, I had an immediate issue. The clutch pedal contacted the fuse box. I pulled the pedal off and ground off 1/8" from the left side of the mount then added an 1/8" washer to the right. It now clears.

All of the harnesses are plenty long so under the dash I will coil up most of the extra. Under the hood however I plugged in the engine harness and began running wires to their locations and cut to length then soldering and crimping connections on. I ran out of time so I will finish this up later this week.

Today I worked on the car for a few hours and was able to finish up the wiring in the engine bay. I changed the externally regulated alternator over to an internally regulated 3- wire alternator. I ordered one for a 78 trans am. Upon bolting it up the bat+ stud contacted the valve cover, so I separated the case and turned it 180 degrees.

Once all the wires were crimped and soldered I went ahead and zip tied everything nicely to clean it up some.

Besides that I got the core support back in and most everything else ready to send to paint. With any luck it will be going this week!

Thanks John. I'm sure I'll be calling with more questions as I go. Thank you for the recommendation on where to get my power steering hoses done. They turned out excellent! I talked to my painter today and he wants to start blocking it next week.

Haven't updated in awhile.

Haven't made much progress lately. My painter backed out on me the day before I was supposed to drop off the car so I've been on the search since. Besides that I got the fuel sending unit installed, and dropped in the new radiator. No pics right now

Don't you just hate it when something like that happens. My painter didn't back out but he kept my car for a solid year before he painted it!

Looks great! How difficult is it to rotate the alternator case? I think I had a similar issue with mine a while back.

Thanks, pretty simple to rotate the case. Biggest thing is there is a small hike in the back of the case that you need to insert a paperclip to hood the brushes in place. As long as that is done, takes about 2 minutes to remove the 4 bolts, rotate the case and reinstall the bolts.

When I changed to an internal on my 67 I used one from a 74 Lemans. I had no problem with the install.

Today I finished up a few minor things underhood. Pretty much all I can do until it goes to paint. I might be able to find a few interior items to install though.

No pictures but some work done throughout this week. Also have the weekend to get a little more done.

I finally took an hour to fab up a custom throttle cable bracket for my dual 4 setup. Works quite well. Also picked up the last fitting I needed to complete my fuel system. I did go backwards on the hydroboost setup though. When I tightened it down it wasn't quite perfectly level and it irritated me to the point that I needed to fix it. I also did some fitting to get the new 4x10 speaker up front. It's aftermarket so the factory brackets don't fit quite right. A little tweaking and its good to go. Tomorrow I'll get the speaker installed as well as the defroster duct.

My new painter called yesterday and wants to start on the car next week! So I have to get ahold of a trailer ASAP. Anyone got one nearby?

Yesterday I finished up a few more wiring connections on the new wiring harness. I wanted to test everything up to this point so I connected a battery, plugged in the ignition switch and turned the key and wah lah; it cranks!

Tonight I got the car all loaded up. I'm leaving work early tomorrow to bring the car to the painter. He's planning on getting it all final blocked, disassembled and jammed out this week.

Dropped my baby off today by the painter. He said he's excited to start it and is planning on starting tomorrow! Figures 2-2.5 weeks.

Thanks for the support so far!

This weekend I got both my tail light buckets blasted. Primed them and painted the insides gloss white. I'm going to pick up a can of spatter paint this week to paint the outside.

Besides that I really don't even have any parts to work on since I haven't had the time (or space) to move them.

I did finally build my work bench though and started some shelves for all my parts

My painter has been sending me pics last week and is finished with my car! I am on my way home from a work trip now so I will be going to pick it up Wednesday or Thursday.
